Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Execute daily feeding and watering schedules for all livestock, ensuring proper nutrition, ration mixing, and hydration according to specific animal needs and life stages.
Perform daily cleaning and sanitation of barns, stalls, pens, and other animal enclosures to maintain a healthy, low-stress environment and prevent disease.
Conduct regular health checks on all animals, vigilantly monitoring for signs of illness, injury, or distress and promptly reporting any concerns to the Farm Manager.
Operate a variety of farm machinery, including tractors, loaders, mowers, and spreaders, for tasks such as feeding, bedding, and field preparation in a safe and efficient manner.
Assist in all phases of crop production, including soil preparation, tilling, planting, seeding, weeding, and cultivating throughout the growing season.
Participate actively in the harvesting, sorting, grading, and packing of crops, produce, and other farm products, ensuring quality standards are consistently met.
Administer basic medical treatments, vaccinations, and supplements to livestock as directed by the Farm Manager or veterinarian.
Maintain and repair farm infrastructure, including fences, gates, water lines, and buildings, to ensure structural integrity and safety across the property.
Handle and move livestock using low-stress, humane techniques for sorting, transport, or health checks.
Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on farm equipment and vehicles to ensure operational readiness and extend their lifespan.
Implement irrigation schedules and maintain irrigation systems, including sprinklers and drip lines, to ensure crops receive adequate water.
Adhere strictly to all farm safety protocols and biosecurity procedures to protect personnel, livestock, and crops from hazards and contamination.
Manage pasture and grazing lands, including rotational grazing setups and monitoring forage quality and availability.
Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides to fields and crops according to precise instructions and safety data sheet (SDS) guidelines.
Load and unload trucks with supplies, feed, hay, and harvested products, often utilizing manual labor or heavy equipment.

Secondary Functions

Maintain detailed daily logs and records of feeding schedules, animal health treatments, breeding activities, and crop application data.
Assist with groundskeeping and landscape maintenance around the farm property, including mowing, trimming, and general upkeep.
Monitor and manage inventory levels of farm supplies such as feed, bedding, fuel, and medical supplies, reporting shortages to management.
Support special farm projects, such as the construction of new facilities, installation of fencing, or land clearing initiatives.
Operate and maintain specialized equipment specific to the farm's focus, such as milking parlor equipment or poultry processing machinery.
