Primary Functions

  • Develop, nurture, and maintain a strong network of contacts within the fashion and PR industries to secure exclusives and stay ahead of breaking stories.
  • Generate a consistent stream of innovative, original story ideas that align with the brand's voice and resonate with our target audience across all platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with editors, photo departments, and social media teams to ensure a cohesive and visually compelling storytelling experience from concept to publication.
  • Write and edit compelling, SEO-optimized copy for fashion e-commerce categories, product descriptions, and shoppable articles to drive affiliate revenue and user engagement.
  • Identify and report on emerging micro and macro trends in apparel, accessories, and beauty, translating runway looks into accessible, service-oriented content for consumers.
  • Conceptualize and contribute to multimedia content, including writing scripts for video segments, developing podcast outlines, and crafting engaging copy for Instagram Stories and TikTok.
  • Uphold rigorous journalistic standards by meticulously fact-checking all data, sources, and quotes prior to publication to ensure accuracy and credibility.
  • Expertly manage multiple, often competing, deadlines in a fast-paced, news-driven environment while consistently maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Monitor competitor publications and the social media landscape to stay ahead of breaking news and identify unique angles for our own brand coverage.
  • Actively assist in the planning and execution of the editorial calendar, ensuring a steady and balanced flow of timely and evergreen fashion content.
  • Represent the publication at industry events, panels, and functions, acting as a knowledgeable, professional, and articulate brand ambassador.
  • Write compelling, click-worthy headlines and subheadings (deks) that are optimized for search engines (SEO) and social media sharing.
  • Analyze content performance using analytics tools like Google Analytics and Chartbeat to understand audience behavior and inform future content strategy.
  • Curate, write, and produce fashion-focused newsletters designed to drive traffic, increase user loyalty, and build a dedicated subscriber base.
  • Cover the critical intersections of fashion with sustainability, technology, business, politics, and pop culture to provide nuanced, forward-thinking commentary.
