Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Diligently monitor and authorize the entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain the security of the premises.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of the property on foot or in a vehicle to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure the security of doors, windows, and gates.
- Operate and monitor advanced closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems and other surveillance equipment to observe for suspicious activities and public safety concerns.
- Respond promptly and professionally to all alarms, disturbances, and calls for service, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, and security breaches.
- Author detailed and accurate daily activity logs and incident reports, documenting all observations, irregularities, and security events with clarity and precision.
- Politely yet firmly enforce client and company policies, procedures, and post orders, addressing violators in a professional and non-confrontational manner.
- Provide a high level of customer service by assisting visitors with directions, answering inquiries, and creating a positive and welcoming first impression.
- Execute emergency response and evacuation procedures as directed, guiding personnel to safety and coordinating with police, fire, and emergency medical services.
- Perform security screenings of individuals and their belongings using magnetometers, wands, and physical bag checks, with a focus on respectful and professional conduct.
- Utilize conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques to calmly manage disruptive or aggressive individuals and stabilize volatile situations until further help arrives.
- Inspect and verify the operational status of safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and first aid kits, reporting any deficiencies.
- Maintain strict control over facility keys and access cards, managing their distribution, collection, and inventory according to established protocols.
- Manage the visitor check-in process using electronic visitor management systems, issuing badges and ensuring all non-employees are properly registered.
- Monitor and control vehicle traffic in parking areas, enforcing parking regulations to ensure a safe and orderly flow of traffic.
- Provide secure escorts for employees and visitors to their vehicles or other locations on the premises, particularly during evening hours or upon request.
Secondary Functions
- Assist in the on-the-job training of newly assigned security personnel, ensuring they understand post orders and site-specific procedures.
- Receive, screen, and log incoming mail and packages for potential threats or contraband according to established security screening protocols.
- Manage the facility's lost and found program by logging, securing, and attempting to return lost items to their rightful owners.
- Provide dedicated security support for special events, meetings, and conferences, managing access control and crowd management for the event footprint.
- Serve as a primary liaison with local law enforcement and emergency responders during incidents, providing them with critical information and support upon their arrival.
