Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Travel frequently to project sites to conduct on-site data collection, performance audits, and quality assurance checks using specialized equipment and digital tools.
  • Design, implement, and manage robust data collection methodologies and protocols to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of all field-gathered information.
  • Perform comprehensive analysis of field operations performance, identifying key trends, anomalies, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
  • Develop and maintain detailed reports, dashboards, and visualizations (e.g., using Tableau, Power BI) to communicate complex findings and performance metrics to management and other stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for field personnel regarding data collection standards, troubleshooting data capture devices, and clarifying data-related inquiries.
  • Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software like ArcGIS or QGIS to perform spatial analysis, create detailed maps, and visualize geographical trends in operational data.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for operational failures, safety incidents, or quality control issues identified through data analysis, and propose corrective action plans.
  • Train and mentor field staff on new data collection technologies, software applications, and best practices to improve overall data literacy and quality across the team.
  • Validate and clean large, complex datasets collected from the field, preparing them for advanced analysis, modeling, and reporting.
  • Collaborate directly with project managers and engineering teams to provide data-driven feedback on project progress, resource allocation, and potential risks.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for field activities, tracking progress against targets and providing regular status updates to leadership.
  • Document all field procedures, data collection activities, analytical methods, and findings meticulously for auditing, training, and knowledge retention purposes.
  • Ensure all field activities and data collection efforts are conducted in strict compliance with company policies, as well as health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
  • Evaluate and recommend new hardware, software, and technologies that could enhance the efficiency and accuracy of field data collection and analysis.
  • Manage the lifecycle of field-generated data, from collection and storage to analysis and eventual archival, ensuring proper data governance.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis from various business units to answer specific operational questions.
  • Contribute to the organization's broader data strategy and roadmap by providing insights on field data needs and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with business units and IT to translate complex data needs and field requirements into technical specifications for data engineering and software development teams.
  • Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies within the data and analytics team to ensure alignment and progress.
  • Assist in the development of predictive models to forecast operational outcomes, such as equipment failure, project delays, or resource requirements.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for data dictionaries, schemas, and analytical models related to field operations.
  • Present analytical findings and strategic recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional executive teams.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Data Analysis & Querying: Advanced proficiency in SQL for extracting and manipulating data from relational databases.
  • Data Visualization: Expertise in creating compelling dashboards and reports using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Google Data Studio.
  • GIS Software: Strong hands-on experience with geospatial tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or other mapping platforms for spatial analysis.
  • Statistical Programming: Proficiency in a programming language for data analysis, such as Python (with Pandas, NumPy, GeoPandas) or R.
  • Advanced Excel: Mastery of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, complex formulas, Power Query, and data modeling.
  • GPS & Field Equipment: Experience operating and troubleshooting GPS units, sensors, drones, and other data collection hardware.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
