Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Provide expert, on-site clinical and technical support during medical procedures, including implantation, to ensure the safe and effective use of the company's devices.
  • Educate and train physicians, hospital staff, and other healthcare professionals on product features, procedural techniques, and troubleshooting through in-services, workshops, and one-on-one sessions.
  • Serve as a trusted clinical advisor and primary point of contact for customers, building strong relationships and addressing any clinical or technical challenges that may arise.
  • Support the commercial launch of new technologies by providing intensive case coverage and facilitating the development of clinical proficiency among new users.
  • Collaborate closely with the sales team to achieve business objectives, providing clinical expertise during product demonstrations, sales calls, and evaluations.
  • Master the entire product portfolio, clinical indications, and procedural guidelines to serve as an authoritative subject matter expert for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and clinical issues in high-pressure environments like the operating room or cath lab, demonstrating poise and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Support clinical trial activities at investigational sites, including site qualification, physician training on trial protocols, and providing support during trial procedures.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with existing accounts to ensure customer satisfaction, optimal product performance, and continued utilization.
  • Provide remote technical and clinical support to customers via phone, email, or video conferencing as needed to resolve issues promptly.
  • Adhere to all company policies, regulatory guidelines (e.g., AdvaMed), and hospital protocols, particularly regarding patient privacy and credentialing.
  • Represent the company with a high degree of professionalism at trade shows, conferences, and scientific meetings, engaging with healthcare professionals and demonstrating product capabilities.
  • Support sales in qualifying potential new accounts by assessing their clinical needs, procedural volumes, and fit for our technology.

Secondary Functions

  • Proactively identify and communicate customer needs, product performance feedback, and competitive intelligence to internal teams such as R&D, Marketing, and Quality Assurance.
  • Complete all administrative duties in a timely manner, including procedure documentation in the CRM system, expense reporting, and field activity tracking.
  • Assist in the management and tracking of field inventory, including consignment products and trial equipment, ensuring it is properly maintained and accounted for.
  • Document and report all field events, including adverse events and product complaints, in strict accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the creation and refinement of educational materials, training presentations, and best-practice guides for clinical applications.
  • Develop and cultivate a network of key opinion leaders (KOLs) and clinical champions within the assigned territory to foster advocacy.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to new field clinical specialists, sharing best practices and procedural insights to ensure team success.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Deep clinical knowledge in a specific therapeutic area (e.g., Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Structural Heart, Orthopedics, Spine, Neuromodulation).
  • Hands-on experience in a procedural environment such as a Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab), Operating Room (OR), or Interventional Radiology (IR) suite.
  • Proficiency in interpreting medical imaging (e.g., fluoroscopy, echocardiography, CT, MRI).
  • Thorough understanding of sterile technique, aseptic principles, and hospital protocols.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and experience supporting clinical trials is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) for reporting and activity tracking.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Associate's Degree with a relevant clinical certification (e.g., RN, RCIS, RT).

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree.

Experience Requirements

  • Direct clinical experience in the specific therapeutic area of the business unit (e.g., 3+ years as a Cath Lab RN for a cardiology role).
