Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Travel independently to various customer locations to install, commission, and validate new equipment, ensuring it meets all performance specifications.
  • Perform complex on-site diagnostics and troubleshooting of electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system failures using schematics, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance routines to ensure optimal equipment performance, minimize downtime, and extend the operational lifespan of assets.
  • Conduct emergency and unscheduled repair services with a sense of urgency to resolve critical customer issues and restore system functionality.
  • Read and interpret complex technical manuals, blueprints, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams to effectively service and repair equipment.
  • Provide comprehensive on-site training to customer personnel on equipment operation, basic maintenance, and safety procedures.
  • Manage and maintain a precise inventory of service parts, tools, and test equipment within a company-provided service vehicle.
  • Communicate directly with customers to understand their issues, provide status updates on repairs, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.

Secondary Functions

  • Complete and submit detailed, accurate, and timely service reports, time sheets, and expense reports through our field service management software.
  • Adhere strictly to all company and client-specific safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain a professional and positive demeanor during all customer interactions, acting as a brand ambassador and strengthening client relationships.
  • Identify opportunities for system upgrades, service contracts, or additional parts sales and communicate these leads to the appropriate sales team members.
  • Participate actively in ongoing company-sponsored technical training and certification programs to stay current with new products and evolving technologies.
  • Maintain the service vehicle in a clean, organized, and safe operating condition, including performing regular vehicle maintenance checks.
  • Provide remote technical support via phone or email to customers when not physically on-site, helping to resolve minor issues quickly.
  • Assist in the development and revision of technical documentation, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting guides based on field experience.

  • Electro-Mechanical Troubleshooting: Proven ability to diagnose and repair complex issues in integrated electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Schematic & Blueprint Interpretation: High proficiency in reading and understanding technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
  • Diagnostic Tool Proficiency: Skilled in the use of standard and advanced diagnostic tools, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, pressure gauges, and proprietary software.
  • PLC & Control Systems: Foundational knowledge of PLC systems, I/O modules, and industrial control logic for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Field Service Software: Experience using CRM or Field Service Management (FSM) software (e.g., ServiceMax, Salesforce) to manage work orders and log activities.
  • Safety Protocol Adherence: Strong understanding and practical application of industrial safety standards, especially Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
  • Valid Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record suitable for operating a company vehicle.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED coupled with significant hands-on technical experience.

Preferred Education:

  • Associate's Degree or a certificate from a technical/vocational school.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 3-7 years of direct experience in a field service or maintenance role.

Preferred: 5+ years of experience as a Field Technician responsible for troubleshooting and repairing complex industrial or commercial equipment in a customer-facing capacity. Experience with a defined service territory and managing a mobile parts inventory is highly desirable.
