Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Skillfully operate and monitor automated and semi-automated filling and packaging equipment, including rotary fillers, piston fillers, and cappers, to meet daily production targets.
  • Execute complete equipment setup and changeovers between different product runs, including adjusting fill volumes, container sizes, and machine speeds via Human-Machine Interface (HMI) panels.
  • Perform meticulous in-process quality control checks, such as verifying fill weights, checking cap torque, inspecting for proper seal integrity, and ensuring correct label and lot code application.
  • Proactively troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues, such as line jams, sensor faults, or material feed problems, to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
  • Accurately complete all required production and quality documentation, including batch records, logbooks, and downtime reports, ensuring compliance with cGMP and internal standards.
  • Conduct thorough cleaning and sanitation of all filling equipment and the surrounding production area, following strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Clean-In-Place (CIP) and Clean-Out-of-Place (COP) systems.
  • Manage the supply of raw materials and components (e.g., bottles, caps, labels, bulk product) to the production line, ensuring a continuous and uninterrupted workflow.
  • Strictly adhere to all company safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and safe material handling practices.
  • Monitor machine parameters and make precise adjustments as needed to maintain operational efficiency and ensure product specifications are consistently met.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, including quality control inspectors, maintenance technicians, and supervisors, to address production issues and drive process improvements.
  • Visually inspect finished products for defects, such as underfills, overfills, cosmetic blemishes, or packaging errors, and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Read and interpret production schedules and work orders to determine product specifications, materials needed, and operational sequences.
  • Assist in staging and palletizing finished goods, ensuring proper stacking patterns and preparing them for transfer to the warehouse.
  • Ensure all product and material traceability is maintained by meticulously verifying lot numbers and component codes throughout the production run.
  • Operate material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks or forklifts (if certified), to move raw materials and finished goods within the production area.
  • Communicate any equipment malfunctions, quality deviations, or safety concerns immediately to the Line Lead or Production Supervisor.
  • Participate in preventative maintenance tasks as directed by the maintenance team to enhance equipment reliability and longevity.
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping in the work area, ensuring it remains clean, organized, and audit-ready at all times.
  • Perform start-up and shutdown procedures for the filling line, ensuring all systems are functioning correctly and are properly prepared for operation or overnight storage.
  • Verify that all necessary materials and documentation are correct and present before initiating a new production batch to prevent errors and rework.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist in the on-the-job training and mentoring of new operators, sharing knowledge on machine operation, safety rules, and quality standards.
  • Participate actively in continuous improvement (Kaizen) events and provide valuable frontline feedback to engineering and management on process enhancements.
  • Support the maintenance team by assisting with minor repairs and scheduled preventative maintenance activities to develop technical skills.
  • Help maintain an accurate inventory of machine-side components and supplies, reporting any shortages to the material handler or supervisor.
