Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Analyze and provide in-depth, constructive feedback on screenplays, treatments, and other literary materials to enhance narrative structure, character development, and commercial appeal.
  • Conduct comprehensive script and project evaluations (coverage) to assess viability for development, financing, and production.
  • Develop and refine a project's creative direction, from initial concept through to the final shooting script, ensuring a cohesive and compelling vision.
  • Create detailed and persuasive pitch decks, lookbooks, and other packaging materials to attract talent, financiers, and distribution partners.
  • Formulate comprehensive film financing plans, identifying and securing funding from various sources including private equity, pre-sales, tax incentives, and grants.
  • Construct and stress-test detailed production budgets and schedules, advising on cost-effective solutions without compromising creative integrity.
  • Advise on casting decisions and the attachment of key creative personnel (director, department heads) to elevate a project's profile and marketability.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies, advising on festival submissions, sales agent selection, and distribution avenues (theatrical, VOD, streaming).
  • Provide strategic guidance during post-production, reviewing cuts of the film and offering notes to refine pacing, story, and overall impact.
  • Analyze market trends, box office data, and audience-viewing habits to inform creative decisions and position projects vantaggioously in the marketplace.
  • Assess the strength of a project's chain of title and advise on necessary legal clearances and intellectual property rights management.
  • Build and maintain an extensive network of high-level contacts, including agents, managers, financiers, distributors, and studio executives, to facilitate key introductions.
  • Negotiate complex deals and contracts with talent, co-production partners, distributors, and financiers on behalf of clients.
  • Guide filmmakers and producers through the international film market landscape, including Cannes, Berlin, TIFF, and AFM, to secure sales and partnerships.
  • Evaluate the potential of existing intellectual property (books, articles, games) for screen adaptation, providing a full report on opportunities and challenges.

Experience Requirements
