Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Drive the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting cycles by collaborating with department heads to gather inputs, challenge assumptions, and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Spearhead the preparation and distribution of comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting packages in accordance with GAAP/IFRS standards.
  • Conduct in-depth variance analysis of actual financial results against budget and forecast, providing insightful commentary and actionable recommendations to business leaders.
  • Execute critical month-end and year-end closing procedures, including the preparation and posting of journal entries, accruals, and complex balance sheet reconciliations to ensure data integrity.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance sophisticated financial models to support long-range planning, investment analysis, and various ad-hoc strategic initiatives.
  • Manage and analyze cash flow, performing detailed cash forecasting and providing recommendations for optimizing working capital and liquidity.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to provide financial guidance and support for new business initiatives, pricing strategies, and operational projects.
  • Oversee and streamline accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments, collections, and accurate recording of transactions.
  • Assist in the coordination and management of internal and external audits, preparing schedules, providing requested documentation, and addressing auditor inquiries.
  • Ensure strict compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, staying current on relevant legislation.
  • Analyze and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics, translating complex financial data into clear, concise, and compelling narratives for management.
  • Administer and manage corporate expense reporting systems (e.g., Concur), ensuring compliance with company travel and expense policies.
  • Evaluate and improve accounting and financial reporting systems, proactively identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Support capital expenditure planning and tracking by performing ROI analysis and monitoring project spending against approved budgets.
  • Prepare detailed financial presentations and dashboards for executive leadership and the Board of Directors, effectively communicating financial performance and outlook.

Secondary Functions

  • Support M&A activities by participating in due diligence efforts and assisting with the financial integration of acquired entities.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure SOX compliance.
  • Mentor junior finance and accounting staff, providing guidance on best practices and professional development.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contract negotiations from a financial perspective to ensure favorable terms.
  • Lead special projects as assigned by the Finance Manager or Controller, such as system implementations or process re-engineering initiatives.
  • Conduct regular balance sheet and P&L flux analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for further investigation.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Proficiency: Mastery of pivot tables, VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP, index-match, complex formulas, and financial modeling is essential.
  • ERP System Expertise: Hands-on experience with major ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Financial Modeling & Forecasting: Proven ability to build and maintain complex, three-statement financial models from scratch for budgeting, forecasting, and valuation purposes.
  • US GAAP / IFRS Knowledge: Strong, in-depth understanding of accounting principles and their practical application in a corporate environment.
  • Data Visualization & BI Tools: Experience using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker to create insightful dashboards and reports.
  • Financial Reporting Software: Familiarity with financial planning and consolidation tools like Hyperion, Cognos, or Adaptive Planning.
  • SQL / Database Querying: Basic to intermediate ability to query databases to extract and manipulate data for analysis.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 3-7 years of progressive experience in corporate finance, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), or accounting roles.

Preferred: Experience in a public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred) or in a similar role within the technology, SaaS, or manufacturing industry is highly desirable.
