Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Design, develop, and maintain complex financial models to forecast revenue, expenses, and profitability, providing actionable insights for strategic planning and budgeting cycles.
  • Conduct in-depth variance analysis of financial results against budgets, forecasts, and prior periods to identify key drivers and report findings to senior management.
  • Extract, transform, and analyze large, complex datasets from multiple sources (e.g., ERP, CRM, data warehouses) to uncover underlying financial trends and performance metrics.
  • Develop and automate insightful dashboards and recurring financial reports for executive leadership and key business stakeholders, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) and business trends.
  • Perform comprehensive profitability analysis on products, customer segments, and business units to inform pricing strategies and resource allocation.
  • Partner with accounting teams to ensure data integrity and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes with timely and accurate analytical reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, and Operations, to provide data-driven financial guidance and support for new initiatives.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of business decisions and proposed projects through ROI analysis, what-if scenarios, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Utilize statistical analysis and predictive modeling techniques to improve the accuracy of financial forecasts and identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare compelling presentations and narratives that clearly communicate complex analytical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Streamline and improve data collection, reporting, and analysis processes by leveraging automation tools and implementing best practices in data management.
  • Analyze historical financial data to identify patterns and create predictive models for future performance.
  • Support the annual budgeting and long-range strategic planning process by providing detailed data analysis and modeling support.
  • Monitor key financial and operational metrics, flagging anomalies and conducting deep-dive investigations to understand root causes.
  • Assess and implement new BI tools and technologies to enhance the analytical capabilities of the finance department.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for financial models, data sources, and reporting procedures to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting for senior leadership to support time-sensitive strategic decisions.
  • Analyze working capital components, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory, to optimize cash flow.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • SQL: Strong ability to write complex queries to extract and manipulate data from relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Data Visualization & BI Tools: Hands-on experience with tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker to create interactive dashboards and reports.
  • Financial Modeling: Demonstrated expertise in building 3-statement financial models, DCF, LBO, and various valuation models from scratch.
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in Python (with libraries like Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib) or R for data wrangling, automation, and statistical analysis.
