Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows, on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Play a key role in the external reporting process, including the drafting and filing of SEC documents such as Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K.
  • Develop and maintain detailed supporting schedules and workpapers for financial statement accounts and SEC filings to ensure accuracy and audit readiness.
  • Conduct in-depth variance analysis of financial results against budget, forecast, and prior periods, providing clear and concise commentary on key drivers.
  • Research, interpret, and implement new accounting pronouncements and standards (U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS) to ensure the company's reporting is compliant.
  • Act as a key liaison with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits by providing requested documentation and explaining accounting treatments.
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal controls by performing, documenting, and testing key financial reporting controls.
  • Prepare financial data and disclosures for investor relations materials, including earnings releases, conference call scripts, and investor presentations.
  • Analyze complex financial transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, debt financing, and equity-based compensation, to determine the proper accounting treatment.
  • Reconcile and analyze key general ledger accounts to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the underlying financial data.
  • Partner with various business units (e.g., FP&A, Legal, Treasury) to gather necessary information and ensure consistent financial reporting across the organization.
  • Drive process improvements and automation within the financial reporting function to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Prepare and review footnote disclosures for financial statements, ensuring they are comprehensive and compliant with all relevant regulations.
  • Support the preparation of management reporting packages for senior leadership and the Board of Directors, highlighting key financial trends and performance metrics.
  • Manage the XBRL tagging process for SEC filings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current taxonomy standards.
  • Perform technical accounting research on non-routine transactions and document conclusions in formal accounting memos.
  • Assist in the preparation of government and statutory financial reports required for various jurisdictions.
  • Maintain and update the company's accounting policies and procedures manual to reflect current practices and standards.
  • Participate in special projects related to financial systems implementation, process re-engineering, and M&A due diligence and integration.
  • Analyze and report on cash flow activities, providing insights into operating, investing, and financing trends.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support reporting, forecasting, and ad-hoc analytical needs.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Deep understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Proficiency in preparing and analyzing financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Cash Flows).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, pivot tables, complex formulas, and financial modeling.
  • Direct experience with SEC reporting requirements, including the preparation of Forms 10-K and 10-Q.
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday Financials).
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and consolidation tools like Hyperion (HFM), OneStream, or Workiva (Wdesk).
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal control frameworks.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Preferred Education:

  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance; active CPA license or in active pursuit of CPA certification.
