Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively develop, cultivate, and manage long-term client relationships, acting as their primary trusted financial confidant.
  • Conduct in-depth discovery meetings with prospective and existing clients to perform a comprehensive needs analysis of their current financial situation, risk tolerance, and future goals.
  • Design, present, and implement customized, comprehensive financial plans that may include strategies for retirement accumulation and distribution, investment management, education funding, and insurance protection.
  • Acquire new clients and expand your book of business through proactive prospecting, networking, seminar delivery, and cultivating referrals from existing clients and centers of influence.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on a wide array of investment products and services, including mutual funds, ETFs, stocks, bonds, annuities, and managed accounts.
  • Continuously monitor client portfolios and financial markets, rebalancing and making strategic adjustments as necessary to align with client objectives and changing economic conditions.
  • Lead regular client review meetings to assess progress toward goals, review portfolio performance, and update their financial plan to reflect life changes or new objectives.
  • Act as a fiduciary, upholding the highest ethical standards and always placing the client's best interests at the forefront of all advice and actions.
  • Educate clients on complex financial concepts, market dynamics, and investment principles in a clear and accessible manner to empower their decision-making.
  • Build a strong professional network with other professionals, such as CPAs and estate planning attorneys, to provide a holistic service model for clients.
  • Stay abreast of evolving industry regulations, new financial products, and current events that may impact client investment strategies and financial plans.
  • Guide clients through the financial implications of major life events, such as marriage, birth of a child, career changes, inheritance, and retirement.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling proposals and presentations that clearly articulate the firm's value proposition and recommended strategies.
  • Diligently maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, meeting notes, and transaction details within the company's CRM system.
  • Achieve and exceed firm-set goals for new client acquisition, asset growth, and revenue generation.
  • Counsel clients on legacy and estate planning strategies to ensure the efficient transfer of wealth to future generations.
  • Analyze and recommend appropriate life, disability, and long-term care insurance solutions to protect clients from unforeseen risks.
  • Develop tax-efficient investment and withdrawal strategies to help clients minimize their tax burden and maximize their net returns.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of retirement plan structures, including 401(k)s, 403(b)s, IRAs, and Roth IRAs, and provide rollover guidance.
  • Articulate complex investment philosophies and performance attribution to sophisticated, high-net-worth clients.

Secondary Functions

  • Participate in community outreach programs and financial literacy workshops to build brand presence and generate leads.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior advisors, paraplanners, and support staff within the team.
  • Complete all required continuing education (CE) credits to maintain active licensure and professional designations.
  • Collaborate with internal marketing and operations teams to enhance the client experience and streamline service delivery.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Active FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 (or 63/65) licenses are mandatory.
  • State Life, Accident, & Health insurance licenses.
  • Proficiency with financial planning software (e.g., eMoney, MoneyGuidePro, NaviPlan).
  • Experience utilizing CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Redtail) for client management and business tracking.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data, economic trends, and portfolio performance reports.
  • In-depth knowledge of investment vehicles, asset allocation, and modern portfolio theory.
  • CFP®, ChFC®, or CFA® designation is highly preferred and often required for senior roles.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for financial modeling and analysis.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year university.

Preferred Education:

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or a Master's degree in Finance or Economics.
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) certification.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 2-5+ years of direct experience in the financial services industry.
