Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Interpret and execute work based on blueprints, architectural drawings, and detailed specifications to ensure accurate project completion.
- Perform precision measuring, cutting, shaping, and joining of various wood and composite materials for a perfect fit and finish.
- Install a wide range of interior finish components, including window and door casings, baseboards, crown molding, and wainscoting.
- Expertly hang and fit interior doors, ensuring proper alignment, swing, and functionality, and install all associated hardware.
- Install high-end custom and pre-fabricated cabinetry, shelving, and complex built-in units in kitchens, bathrooms, closets, and living areas.
- Fabricate and install decorative wood features, such as coffered ceilings, mantels, and architectural paneling, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Scribe and fit millwork and cabinetry to uneven surfaces like plaster walls, stone fireplaces, and tile backsplashes for a seamless, integrated look.
- Install stair components, including treads, risers, newel posts, balusters, and handrails, ensuring structural integrity and code compliance.
- Perform detailed joinery work, creating strong and aesthetically pleasing connections using techniques like miter, cope, and scarf joints.
- Install various types of hardware, including hinges, handles, pulls, locks, and closers, with precision and care.
- Ensure all finished work is level, plumb, and square, making necessary adjustments to achieve flawless results.
- Manage the sequence of finishing tasks to coordinate effectively with other trades, such as painters and flooring installers.
- Take responsibility for the quality control of all finishing work, performing touch-ups and repairs to meet the highest standards of craftsmanship.
- Maintain a deep understanding of different wood species, their characteristics, and the appropriate applications and finishing techniques for each.
Secondary Functions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to all job site safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Operate and maintain a variety of hand and power tools, including table saws, miter saws, routers, and planers, ensuring they are in safe working condition.
