  • Set up, operate, and maintain a wide array of advanced finishing equipment, including HVLP spray guns, air-assisted airless sprayers, powder coating systems, and automated finishing lines.
  • Skillfully apply primers, base coats, topcoats, and specialized coatings to components with exceptional consistency, ensuring uniform thickness and a defect-free finish.
  • Conduct rigorous in-process and final quality control inspections to identify and skillfully correct imperfections such as runs, sags, orange peel, fisheyes, and other surface defects.
  • Perform detailed touch-up, sanding, and buffing on finished surfaces to achieve specified gloss levels and smoothness, ensuring products meet the highest aesthetic standards before shipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by strictly adhering to all company safety protocols and OSHA guidelines, especially regarding the handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Execute a comprehensive preventative maintenance schedule for all finishing equipment, including spray booths, pumps, hoses, and spray guns, to ensure optimal performance and minimize production downtime.
  • Precisely document production and quality data, accurately tracking material usage, project completion times, and any non-conformance issues in the company's tracking system.
  • Collaborate effectively with other production departments, such as fabrication and assembly, to coordinate workflow and ensure a seamless transition of products through the manufacturing cycle.
  • Manage and maintain optimal inventory levels of all finishing supplies, including paints, solvents, abrasives, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and initiate reordering as needed.
  • Perform advanced color matching and tinting by eye and with color-matching equipment to create custom colors or match existing finishes with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Utilize specialized finishing techniques, such as distressing, glazing, and antiquing, to achieve specific aesthetic effects required for custom or high-end projects.
  • Carefully handle, wrap, and package finished components to prevent scratches, dents, or other damage during transfer to subsequent assembly stages or for final shipping.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues within the finishing process, identifying the root cause of quality defects and implementing effective, long-term corrective actions.
