Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Plan, organize, and execute single-day or multi-day guided fishing trips for individuals and groups, ensuring a high-quality, personalized experience.
Expertly operate and navigate various watercraft, including drift boats, rafts, and motorized boats, in diverse and sometimes challenging water conditions.
Instruct clients of all skill levels on effective fishing techniques, including casting, knot tying, fly/lure selection, and proper fish handling.
Utilize extensive knowledge of local fisheries, hydrology, and entomology to consistently locate fish and adapt strategies to changing conditions.
Prioritize and maintain the highest standards of safety for all clients by conducting pre-trip safety briefings and managing risks on the water.
Provide and meticulously maintain all necessary fishing equipment, including rods, reels, lines, tackle, and flies, ensuring everything is in top working order.
Educate clients on local ecosystems, conservation principles, and the importance of ethical angling practices like catch-and-release.
Deliver exceptional customer service by building strong rapport with clients, managing expectations, and creating a positive, encouraging, and fun atmosphere.
Perform on-the-spot problem-solving, from untangling lines and fixing gear to adjusting the day's plan based on weather or water level changes.
Provide a full-service hospitality experience, which may include preparing and serving high-quality shore lunches and beverages during trips.
Skillfully rig all rods and equipment for clients based on the target species, conditions, and client's ability level.
Act as a first responder in emergency situations, utilizing current First Aid and CPR certifications to provide immediate care if needed.
Monitor weather forecasts and water conditions continuously before and during trips to make informed safety and strategy decisions.
Share engaging stories and local knowledge about the area, its history, and its wildlife to enrich the client's overall experience.
Assist clients in properly and safely landing, handling, photographing, and releasing fish to minimize stress on the animal.

Secondary Functions

Meticulously clean and prepare boats, vehicles, and all associated equipment before and after each guided trip.
Communicate professionally with clients pre-trip to confirm logistics, discuss expectations, and answer any questions.
Assist with booking inquiries, scheduling, and processing payments for guided trips and other services.
Manage and maintain an inventory of flies, leaders, tippet, and other consumable tackle for guide and client use.
Capture high-quality photos and videos of the client's experience for their personal use and for the company's marketing efforts.
