Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Conduct comprehensive initial fitness assessments for new members, evaluating body composition, cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, and flexibility to establish baseline metrics.
- Design and implement safe, effective, and scientifically-sound personalized exercise programs tailored to individual client goals, needs, and physical limitations.
- Provide expert, one-on-one and small-group instruction, demonstrating proper exercise techniques and form to prevent injury and maximize effectiveness.
- Continuously monitor and document client progress, conducting regular re-assessments and adjusting workout plans as needed to ensure continued advancement and goal attainment.
- Actively engage members on the fitness floor, building rapport, offering spotting assistance, answering questions, and creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
- Lead energetic, motivating, and well-structured group fitness classes in a variety of formats, catering to different fitness levels and interests.
- Provide general, non-prescriptive nutritional guidance and lifestyle coaching in accordance with your certification's scope of practice to support members' holistic wellness.
- Develop and maintain a strong client base through proactive outreach, relationship building, and delivering exceptional service that drives retention and referrals.
- Educate members on the safe and proper use of all cardiovascular, strength, and functional training equipment within the facility.
- Maintain a high level of professional and technical knowledge by staying current with the latest health and fitness research, trends, and industry best practices.
- Respond to any medical emergencies or injuries with immediate care, applying CPR and First Aid skills as required and completing necessary incident reports.
- Act as a brand ambassador, representing the facility's values and mission through every member interaction.
Secondary Functions
- Meticulously maintain client records, session notes, and scheduling using our designated client relationship management (CRM) software.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the fitness floor, including sanitizing and performing routine checks on equipment.
- Collaborate with the membership team to provide facility tours and explain the benefits of personal training and other fitness programs to prospective members.
- Contribute to the development and promotion of fitness challenges, workshops, and educational seminars to enhance member engagement.
- Participate actively in team meetings, continuing education sessions, and corporate events to foster a collaborative and knowledgeable team environment.
- Assist in creating engaging social media and newsletter content, such as workout tips, success stories, and health-related articles.
- Enforce all facility rules and regulations consistently and politely to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all members and staff.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or member concerns to the Fitness Manager in a timely manner.
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Exercise Prescription: Ability to design safe and effective training programs for diverse populations, including those with special considerations.
- Fitness Assessment: Proficiency in conducting a range of tests (e.g., body composition, V02 max submaximal tests, movement screens).
- Anatomy & Kinesiology: Deep understanding of human movement, biomechanics, and exercise physiology.
- CPR/AED & First Aid: Current and valid certification is mandatory.
- Group Instruction: Skill in leading and commanding a room, cueing effectively, and modifying exercises for a group setting.

Educational Background
Minimum Education:
