Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Execute the end-to-end installation of diverse flooring materials, including hardwood, engineered wood, laminate, luxury vinyl tile (LVT), vinyl composition tile (VCT), sheet vinyl, carpet (roll and tile), ceramic, and porcelain tile.
- Perform meticulous on-site measurements of designated areas to accurately calculate material needs, create cutting lists, and minimize material waste.
- Conduct thorough subfloor preparation, which includes cleaning, scraping, sanding, and leveling surfaces to create an optimal, stable foundation for new flooring.
- Skillfully remove and dispose of existing flooring materials, such as old carpet, tile, or vinyl, while ensuring the underlying subfloor remains intact and undamaged.
- Operate a wide range of professional flooring tools and equipment, including tile saws, power stretchers, seam irons, floor sanders, buffers, and pneumatic nail guns, in compliance with all safety standards.
- Interpret and work from blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to understand project specifications, layout designs, and installation requirements.
- Mix and apply specialized adhesives, mortars, grouts, and other bonding agents according to manufacturer guidelines to ensure a secure and durable installation.
- Execute flawless carpet installations by precisely cutting, seaming, and stretching material to achieve a tight, wrinkle-free fit and perfectly aligned patterns.
- Precisely cut and install flooring materials around obstacles and in complex patterns, such as herringbone or custom tile layouts, demonstrating a high degree of craftsmanship.
- Install finishing touches, including baseboards, quarter-round molding, and transition strips, to create a clean, professional, and seamless look.
- Conduct final quality assurance inspections on all completed work, identifying and correcting any imperfections to guarantee the project meets our high-quality standards.
- Perform detailed repair and restoration work on damaged flooring, including replacing individual planks or tiles, patching carpet, and refinishing hardwood surfaces.
- Expertly sand, stain, seal, and finish new or existing hardwood floors to achieve the client's desired aesthetic and ensure long-lasting durability.
- Manage job site logistics, including the safe loading, unloading, and transportation of heavy materials, tools, and equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout the project lifecycle, protecting client property and minimizing disruption.
- Proactively identify and troubleshoot on-site challenges, such as unexpected subfloor conditions or complex layouts, and implement effective, timely solutions.
- Provide exceptional customer service by clearly communicating the installation process, addressing client questions, and ensuring complete satisfaction upon project completion.
- Adhere strictly to all company policies and OSHA safety regulations to prevent injuries and maintain a secure working environment for the entire team.
- Lay out flooring materials prior to installation to create a balanced and visually appealing pattern, especially when working with natural wood or stone with variations.
- Perform moisture and pH testing on concrete subfloors to determine if a vapor barrier or special adhesive is required, preventing future flooring failures.

- Assist in the training and mentorship of apprentice installers, sharing best practices, tool usage techniques, and safety protocols.
