Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Prepare and protect job sites by meticulously masking off windows, doors, flooring, and other surfaces to prevent overspray.
Set up, operate, and maintain high-pressure spray foam equipment, including proportioners (e.g., Graco reactors), transfer pumps, hoses, and spray guns.
Accurately apply open-cell and closed-cell spray polyurethane foam (SPF) to various substrates, including walls, attics, crawl spaces, and roof decks, ensuring consistent depth and texture.
Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical specifications to understand project scope and application requirements.
Conduct daily inspections and preventative maintenance on the spray rig, truck, and all associated application equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions in the field, including issues with pressure, temperature, and material flow, to minimize downtime.
Adhere strictly to all company and OSHA safety protocols, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as full-face respirators, supplied air systems, and protective suits.
Calculate material requirements for each job and manage on-site inventory of chemical components (A-side and B-side) and supplies.
Ensure proper environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, substrate moisture) are met before and during application for optimal foam curing and adhesion.
Trim, scrape, and finish cured foam to meet project specifications and prepare surfaces for subsequent trades like drywall installation.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, performing thorough job site cleanup upon project completion.
Drive company vehicles, including box trucks and spray rigs, to and from job sites, adhering to all traffic laws and DOT regulations.
Complete daily work logs, service reports, and other required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
Communicate professionally and effectively with homeowners, general contractors, site supervisors, and other team members regarding project status and any potential issues.
Load and unload heavy materials and equipment, often weighing over 50 pounds, on a daily basis.
Perform quality control checks throughout the application process to guarantee adherence to manufacturer specifications and building code requirements.
Manage the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemical materials according to safety data sheets (SDS) and environmental regulations.
Ensure adequate ventilation of the work area during and after application to maintain a safe environment for all personnel.
Train and mentor helpers or junior technicians on proper application techniques, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
Work confidently and safely in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces, as well as at heights on ladders or scaffolding.

Secondary Functions

Assist in the general maintenance and organization of the company warehouse and equipment storage areas.
Provide clear, on-site explanations of the insulation process and its benefits to customers when required.
Collaborate with the sales and estimating team by providing feedback from the field to improve the accuracy of future quotes.
Participate in ongoing safety meetings and professional development training to stay current with industry best practices and new technologies.
