Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Proactively clear tables of used dishes, glassware, and flatware with speed and discretion, minimizing disruption to the dining atmosphere.
- Expertly reset tables according to precise restaurant standards, ensuring every detail from linen to silverware placement is perfect for the next guest.
- Anticipate guest needs by providing timely refills of water, coffee, and other non-alcoholic beverages, supporting the primary server.
- Act as the critical link between the kitchen and the dining room, delivering food orders to the correct tables promptly and accurately.
- Announce dishes to guests upon delivery, ensuring they have received the correct items and enhancing the presentation of the culinary team's work.
- Meticulously maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the dining room during service, including wiping tables, chairs, and sweeping floors as needed.
- Transport bus tubs filled with soiled dishes, glassware, and cutlery from the dining room to the dishwashing area efficiently and safely.
- Continuously monitor tables to assist servers, identifying opportunities to enhance the guest experience by clearing plates or addressing simple requests.
- Collaborate seamlessly with the server team by communicating table status (e.g., ready to be cleared, ready for dessert course) to optimize service flow.
- Warmly greet and acknowledge guests while moving through the dining room, contributing to a welcoming and hospitable environment.
- Assist in the initial setup of the dining room before service begins, including arranging tables, preparing water stations, and stocking server alleys.
- Execute closing duties diligently, including a thorough breakdown of the dining room, cleaning sections, and preparing for the next day's service.
Secondary Functions
- Meticulously polish silverware, glassware, and plateware to ensure they are spotless and meet our high standards for presentation.
- Keep server stations fully stocked with essential supplies such as napkins, clean cutlery, glassware, condiments, and to-go containers.
- Provide support to the bar staff by restocking ice bins, glassware, and garnishes during peak hours or as requested.
- Manage and organize the storage of front-of-house supplies, including linens, candles, and paper goods, and report any inventory shortages.
- Respond immediately and professionally to spills or breakages, ensuring guest and team member safety by following proper clean-up procedures.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all common areas, restrooms, and entryways to uphold the restaurant's overall pristine image.
- Offer assistance to hosts by helping to seat guests, provide menus, or manage the waitlist during exceptionally busy periods.
- Develop a foundational knowledge of the menu to answer basic guest questions or direct them to their server for more detailed inquiries.
