Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Supervise the full scope of daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, to ensure seamless functionality and strict adherence to company standards.
  • Lead, train, and motivate a diverse team of store associates, delegating tasks effectively and fostering a collaborative, customer-centric culture through continuous coaching.
  • Manage employee schedules, break times, and shift assignments using scheduling software to ensure optimal floor coverage and full compliance with labor regulations.
  • Oversee comprehensive inventory management processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and conducting regular cycle counts to maintain optimal stock levels and minimize spoilage/waste.
  • Monitor and rigorously enforce all food safety and sanitation regulations (e.g., HACCP, FIFO), conducting regular checks to guarantee a clean and safe environment for both customers and staff.
  • Drive store sales and profitability by executing merchandising strategies, building impactful promotional displays, and training staff on upselling techniques aligned with company goals.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries, complaints, and escalations, resolving issues with professionalism and empathy to ensure a positive shopping experience and build loyalty.
  • Manage all cash handling procedures, including POS transactions, till reconciliation, and bank deposits, ensuring absolute accuracy and security.
  • Conduct daily store walks and detailed inspections to assess overall store conditions, product presentation, and compliance with operational and visual merchandising standards.
  • Assist the Store Manager in all aspects of performance management, including contributing to performance reviews, providing constructive feedback, and administering disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Ensure all store equipment (refrigeration units, ovens, POS systems, etc.) is properly maintained and in good working order, coordinating repairs promptly to prevent operational downtime.
  • Champion loss prevention initiatives by actively monitoring for potential theft, promoting security awareness among staff, and ensuring strict adherence to all security protocols.
  • Analyze daily and weekly sales reports to identify emerging trends, track performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), and make data-informed operational adjustments.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication between store staff and upper management through regular team meetings, daily huddles, and the transparent dissemination of company updates.
  • Support the recruitment and onboarding process for new team members, ensuring they receive comprehensive training on company policies, safety procedures, and customer service excellence.
  • Maintain meticulous and accurate records of store operations, including sales data, employee timekeeping, inventory adjustments, and incident reports for analysis and compliance.
  • Uphold and promote a positive brand image by ensuring the store is consistently well-maintained, welcoming, and perfectly representative of our company's values and quality standards.
  • Manage the efficient flow of goods from the stockroom to the sales floor, directing the team to ensure products are merchandised effectively and shelves remain fully stocked at all times.
  • Act as the Manager on Duty in the absence of the Store Manager, assuming full responsibility for all store activities, team leadership, and critical decision-making.
  • Coordinate directly with vendors and suppliers during deliveries, diligently verifying invoices and ensuring the quality and accuracy of all received products against purchase orders.

Secondary Functions

  • Support the planning and execution of in-store events, community outreach programs, and local marketing initiatives to drive foot traffic and customer engagement.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of store processes by identifying inefficiencies and proposing practical solutions to the Store Manager.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • POS & Cash Management: High proficiency in operating modern Point of Sale (POS) systems and managing cash control procedures, including reconciliation and deposits.
  • Inventory Management: Strong knowledge of inventory control software, stock ordering, receiving protocols, and cycle counting to minimize shrink and optimize on-hand levels.
  • Retail Mathematics: Solid understanding of key retail metrics, including sales per square foot, margin, markup, and sell-through rates.
  • Scheduling Software: Experience using employee scheduling platforms (e.g., Kronos, Deputy, Homebase) to manage staffing and labor costs effectively.
  • Food Safety Knowledge: Certification or strong working knowledge of food safety standards and regulations (e.g., ServSafe, HACCP).

Educational Background

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:
