Primary Functions

  • Design, implement, and execute comprehensive and technically sound practice plans that facilitate skill development, strategic understanding, and team cohesion.
  • Develop, install, and manage all aspects of the team's offensive, defensive, and special teams schemes, including playbook creation and in-game adjustments.
  • Conduct thorough opponent scouting and film analysis to create detailed game plans and strategic advantages for upcoming competitions.
  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and recruitment of academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes in compliance with all NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations.
  • Provide intensive, position-specific instruction and mentorship to players, focusing on fundamental techniques, tactical awareness, and personal growth.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and highly competitive team culture that prioritizes character, discipline, academic achievement, and personal accountability.
  • Manage all in-game coaching responsibilities, including strategic decision-making, play-calling, personnel management, and clock management.
  • Oversee the football program's operational budget, including team travel, equipment purchasing, and allocation of resources, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, year-round strength and conditioning program in collaboration with certified strength coaches to maximize player health, safety, and performance.
  • Monitor and support the academic progress of all student-athletes, working closely with academic support staff to ensure eligibility and progress towards graduation.
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with high school coaches, recruiting services, alumni, and community stakeholders to enhance the program's network and reputation.
  • Direct and supervise the assistant coaching staff, providing clear direction, professional development opportunities, and performance evaluations.
  • Organize and execute fundraising initiatives, community service projects, and alumni engagement events to support and promote the football program.
  • Coordinate all team travel logistics, including transportation, lodging, and meals, for away competitions and recruiting trips.
  • Serve as a primary spokesperson for the program, effectively communicating with media, administration, and the public.
  • Utilize modern coaching technologies, including video analysis software like Hudl or XOS, for player evaluation, self-scouting, and game preparation.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all rules, policies, and procedures of the institution, the athletic conference, and the governing athletic body (e.g., NCAA, NFHS).
  • Evaluate player performance on a consistent basis through film review and statistical analysis, providing constructive, actionable feedback.
  • Organize, promote, and direct summer football camps and clinics for youth and prospective athletes.
  • Actively participate in departmental meetings, compliance education, and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in coaching and athletic administration.

Minimum Education:

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • A verifiable track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining high-achieving student-athletes.
