Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Proactively and warmly greet all customers entering the department, creating a welcoming and engaging shopping environment.
- Conduct in-depth needs assessments by actively listening to customers to understand their lifestyle, activities, and style preferences.
- Provide expert-level product knowledge on various footwear brands, materials, construction, and new technologies to educate and empower customers.
- Perform accurate and professional shoe fittings, including measuring both feet and analyzing gait, to ensure an optimal and comfortable fit.
- Drive sales by recommending specific products, up-selling complementary items like socks and shoe care, and closing transactions efficiently.
- Manage multiple customer interactions simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of personalized service for each individual.
- Stay current with all in-store promotions, seasonal markdowns, and exclusive product drops to provide accurate information and create a sense of urgency.
- Articulate the benefits and features of our customer loyalty program, actively enrolling new members to foster repeat business.
- Assist customers in locating specific sizes and styles on the sales floor and in the stockroom with speed and accuracy.
- Maintain a visually appealing and well-organized sales floor, ensuring all footwear is neatly presented, correctly signed, and merchandised to standard.
- Process customer transactions, including sales, returns, and exchanges, accurately and efficiently using the Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Build a personal client book by capturing customer information and conducting follow-up communication for new arrivals and relevant promotions.
- Continuously work towards and exceed individual and team sales goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and other performance metrics.
- Handle customer issues and complaints with empathy and professionalism, seeking solutions that satisfy the customer and align with company policy.
- Retrieve footwear from the stockroom and return unsold items to their designated locations, maintaining stockroom organization.
- Participate actively in all product knowledge training sessions, team meetings, and vendor-led clinics to enhance expertise.
- Assist in executing visual merchandising directives, including setting up new displays and updating signage to reflect current campaigns.
- Monitor the sales floor for potential theft or loss and adhere to all loss prevention policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless customer service and a positive, supportive work environment.
- Offer and explain product warranties, care instructions, and return policies to ensure customer clarity and long-term satisfaction.
- Use store technology, such as tablets, for inventory checks, online ordering for out-of-stock items, and providing enhanced product information.
Secondary Functions
- Assist in the receiving and processing of new merchandise shipments, including unboxing, tagging, and stocking footwear.
- Participate in regular inventory counts, including cycle counts and annual physical inventory, to maintain data accuracy.
- Support management with opening and closing procedures as required.
