Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Supervise and lead on-site construction crews (carpentry, concrete, mechanical, electrical, laborers), assigning daily tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring crews meet production targets while maintaining workmanship and quality standards described in project plans and specifications.
- Read, interpret, and verify construction drawings, blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications; layout work in the field, mark reference points, and communicate clarifications or discrepancies to the Superintendent and Project Manager.
- Enforce health, safety and environmental compliance on site by performing daily safety briefings (toolbox talks), verifying PPE usage, conducting hazard assessments, ensuring OSHA/regulatory compliance, and stopping unsafe work immediately.
- Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, specialty trades, inspectors, and deliveries to ensure seamless sequence of operations, minimize downtime, and prevent schedule conflicts or rework.
- Monitor progress against the project schedule, report critical path status daily, identify potential delays, propose mitigation measures, and support the Superintendent with recovery plans and resource reallocation.
- Manage onsite materials, tools, and equipment: receive deliveries, inspect for quality and quantity, store properly, track inventory, and reduce waste or loss through accountable handling and secured storage practices.
- Perform quality control inspections of installed work, verify compliance with project tolerances and specifications, document non-conformances, direct corrective action, and maintain punch list items until closeout.
- Train, mentor and develop crew members and apprentice-level workers on best practices, proper techniques, equipment operation, and company policies to increase productivity and maintain a skilled workforce.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, timecards, labor reports, production reports, and equipment utilization records; prepare and submit daily field reports, site photos, and progress updates to the Superintendent or Project Management team.
- Operate and coordinate heavy equipment and mechanized tools safely when required, ensure scheduled maintenance is completed, and communicate any equipment failures that could impact schedule or budget.
- Supervise layout and installation of formwork, rebar, concrete pours, framing, drywall, MEP rough-ins, finishes, or trade-specific scope per project requirements and quality expectations.
- Monitor labor productivity and crew performance, recommend staffing adjustments, overtime needs, or subcontractor augmentation to meet schedule milestones and budget constraints.
- Implement and document corrective actions for non-conforming work, maintain records of rework, change orders, and scope clarifications, and support claims with robust field documentation and photographic evidence.
- Facilitate inspections with building officials, third-party inspectors, and QA/QC personnel; prepare required documentation, items for inspection, and ensure timely resolution of inspection punch items.
- Enforce site housekeeping standards, maintain clear access lanes, manage waste and material offcuts, and ensure a tidy and safe work environment that supports operational efficiency.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, project stakeholders, subcontractor leads, and office staff to address questions, relay schedule impacts, and confirm onsite decisions or approvals.
- Assist in on-site cost control by tracking material consumption, minimizing rework, identifying inefficiencies, and reporting potential budget impacts to the Project Manager.
- Issue daily work instructions, provide clear scope delineation to crew leads, and ensure subcontractor and vendor scopes are understood and coordinated prior to starting work.
- Lead root-cause investigations for incidents or quality issues, document findings, implement preventive measures, and ensure lessons learned are shared across projects and teams.
- Maintain and secure required site documentation (permits, certifications, equipment logs, safety training records), and support internal and external audits with complete and accurate records.
- Support pre-construction activities and turnover by verifying completed systems, assisting with commissioning checks, and ensuring all closeout documentation and warranties are collected for punch list completion and client handoff.

Minimum Education:
