Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Operate a sit-down, counterbalance forklift to safely move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise and materials.
- Perform efficient loading and unloading of inbound and outbound trucks, trailers, and containers, verifying the accuracy and integrity of all shipments.
- Transport raw materials, work in process, and finished goods to and from storage areas, production lines, and loading docks.
- Execute daily pre-operation and post-operation inspections of the forklift, meticulously documenting and reporting any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
- Utilize Radio Frequency (RF) scanning equipment and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to accurately track inventory movement and ensure real-time data integrity.
- Strictly adhere to all company safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and standard operating procedures to maintain a secure and accident-free workplace.
- Efficiently stack and store pallets and materials in designated warehouse locations, maximizing space utilization and maintaining organized storage racks.
- Pull, prepare, and stage products for shipment, ensuring the exact quantity and type of product is accurately picked and prepared for loading.
- Verify the accuracy of orders against packing lists, bills of lading, or other shipping documents before staging for shipment.
- Securely wrap, band, and prepare pallets for shipment, ensuring stability and protection of goods during transit.
- Report any product damage, quality issues, or inventory discrepancies to the warehouse supervisor or lead immediately for resolution.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and truck drivers regarding shipment status, workflow, and potential delays.
- Maneuver the forklift with precision in congested areas, narrow aisles, and around pedestrians and other equipment.
- Monitor and manage forklift battery charging and changing procedures to ensure equipment is always ready for operation.
- Work collaboratively with shipping, receiving, and production teams to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow and timely processing of all orders.
Secondary Functions
- Support and participate in routine cycle counts and annual physical inventories to maintain high levels of inventory accuracy.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area, assisting in general warehouse housekeeping duties to ensure a safe and organized environment.
