Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Design, develop, and deliver engaging and dynamic French language curriculum for various proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced, ensuring alignment with institutional standards and student learning outcomes.
- Foster an immersive classroom environment that maximizes language use and encourages active participation through communicative and task-based instructional strategies.
- Plan and prepare comprehensive lesson plans, instructional materials, and classroom activities that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.

- Conduct classes entirely in French, or with appropriate scaffolding for lower levels, to promote authentic language acquisition.

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and academic performance in the institution's management system.
- Hold regular office hours to provide one-on-one academic support, tutoring, and mentorship to students.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning challenges, and academic goals.
- Collaborate with colleagues and department heads on curriculum development, program evaluation, and student placement testing.
- Stay current with best practices, new methodologies, and emerging technologies in second language acquisition and pedagogy.
- Prepare students for standardized language proficiency exams such as the DELF/DALF, TEF, or AP French Language and Culture exam.
- Manage classroom dynamics effectively to ensure a respectful, positive, and productive learning environment for all students.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and institutional committees as required.
- Develop and lead conversation groups, language labs, or supplemental instruction sessions to provide students with additional practice opportunities.
