Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Execute strategic merchandising plans by stocking, facing, and rotating frozen products to ensure optimal product presentation, planogram integrity, and customer accessibility.
- Meticulously manage departmental inventory levels through accurate ordering, receiving, and back-stock organization, utilizing inventory management systems to prevent out-of-stocks and overstock situations.
- Uphold stringent food safety and quality assurance standards by consistently monitoring freezer temperatures, checking product expiration dates, and adhering to the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) rotation principle.
- Conduct regular quality control checks on all incoming and on-shelf products, identifying and properly handling any damaged, spoiled, or subpar items to minimize shrink and ensure customer safety.
- Drive departmental sales and customer loyalty by building creative, eye-catching promotional displays and ensuring accurate, visible pricing and signage for all sales, specials, and new items.
- Act as the department's primary point of contact, proactively engaging with customers to provide expert product knowledge, offer meal suggestions, and assist in locating items.
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and organization throughout the frozen food aisles, display cases, and back-stock freezers, ensuring a safe and inviting shopping environment.
- Safely and efficiently unload frozen product deliveries, verifying shipment accuracy against invoices and promptly moving stock to the appropriate storage areas to maintain the cold chain.
- Manage and control department shrink by diligently tracking unsaleable products, implementing loss prevention strategies, and communicating issues to the management team.
- Collaborate with the Department Manager to plan and execute seasonal product resets and layout changes to capitalize on market trends and promotional opportunities.
- Operate and maintain departmental equipment, including pallet jacks, forklifts, and cardboard balers, in strict accordance with company safety protocols.
- Perform price changes, tag updates, and signage maintenance with a high degree of accuracy to ensure compliance and clear communication with customers.
Secondary Functions
- Support the training and onboarding of new team members within the grocery department, sharing best practices for frozen food handling, stocking, and safety.
- Participate actively in team meetings, providing valuable feedback on product movement, customer requests, and potential operational improvements.
- Assist in conducting periodic full-department inventory counts, contributing to the overall accuracy of the store's financial and stock records.

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Inventory Management Systems (IMS): Proficiency in using handheld scanners and software for ordering, receiving, and managing stock levels.
- Food Safety & Handling: Strong knowledge of food safety protocols, including HACCP principles, temperature danger zones, and cold chain management. ServSafe or equivalent certification is a major plus.
- Merchandising & Planogram Execution: Ability to read and implement planograms, build effective displays, and apply visual merchandising techniques to drive sales.
- Equipment Operation: Certified or able to be certified to safely operate material handling equipment such as electric pallet jacks, forklifts, and balers.
