Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Utilize RF scanners, handheld devices, or pick-to-light systems to accurately locate and retrieve products from designated warehouse locations based on customer order specifications.
- Meticulously inspect, wrap, and package items for shipment, selecting appropriate box sizes and packing materials to ensure product safety and integrity during transit.
- Conduct thorough quality control checks on all outbound orders to verify item accuracy, quantity, and condition, minimizing shipping errors and enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Generate, verify, and affix shipping labels to packages, ensuring all information is correct before sorting them by carrier (e.g., UPS, FedEx, USPS) for timely pickup.
- Operate and interact with our Warehouse Management System (WMS) to process orders, update inventory levels in real-time, and track order status throughout the fulfillment lifecycle.
- Adhere strictly to all established safety protocols, company policies, and OSHA standards, maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area to prevent accidents.
- Safely operate material handling equipment such as manual/electric pallet jacks and hand trucks to move inventory, raw materials, and finished goods throughout the facility.
- Participate actively in regular cycle counts and full physical inventory audits to maintain precise inventory records and report discrepancies to the inventory control team.
- Process customer returns (reverse logistics) by inspecting returned merchandise, assessing its condition, and following procedures for restocking, disposition, or disposal.
- Perform light kitting or assembly tasks by bundling various individual items into a single package as required for specific products, promotions, or value-added services.
- Efficiently unload inbound shipments from trucks, verifying the contents against packing slips or purchase orders and promptly reporting any damages or shortages.
- Sort and place received goods into their designated storage locations (put-away), ensuring proper organization, rotation (FIFO), and accessibility for future picking.
- Work diligently to meet or exceed established key performance indicators (KPIs) for productivity and accuracy, such as orders picked per hour and order error rates.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, leads, and supervisors across different departments to ensure a smooth and cohesive workflow from receiving to shipping.
- Identify and troubleshoot order discrepancies, system errors, or inventory issues, and escalate them to a team lead or supervisor for prompt and effective resolution.
- Maintain a well-stocked and organized packing station, ensuring all necessary supplies like boxes, tape, dunnage, and labels are readily available to avoid workflow interruptions.
- Consolidate items from multiple picking zones for a single customer shipment, ensuring all parts of a multi-item order are present before final packing.
- Provide constructive feedback on current workflows and processes, suggesting improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and workplace safety.
- Adapt to fluctuating business needs and priorities by cross-training in different functional areas of the warehouse (e.g., receiving, inventory, shipping) as required.
- Complete all required documentation and system transactions with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness, ensuring a clear audit trail for all warehouse movements.
Secondary Functions

- Contribute to the organization's data strategy and roadmap.
- Assist in training new team members on standard operating procedures (SOPs) for picking, packing, and using warehouse systems.

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- RF Scanner Proficiency: Experience using handheld radio-frequency scanners for picking, put-away, and inventory tasks.
- WMS Experience: Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (e.g., NetSuite, Manhattan, Fishbowl, ShipStation).
- Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Operation: Competency in safely operating manual pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other warehouse equipment.
- Basic Computer Skills: Ability to perform data entry, use email, and interact with shipping software.
- Shipping Software Familiarity: Basic knowledge of carrier platforms like UPS WorldShip or FedEx Ship Manager is a plus.
- Order Picking & Packing Techniques: Knowledge of best practices for ensuring order accuracy and product protection.
