Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Accurately and efficiently pick customer orders for shipment, utilizing a pick list or handheld RF scanner to ensure the correct quantity and type of product is selected.
- Expertly pack and ship customer orders, selecting the appropriate-sized shipping materials and ensuring items are secure to prevent damage during transit.
- Consistently meet and exceed established productivity, quality, and safety standards to contribute to the overall efficiency and success of the distribution center.
- Utilize handheld radio frequency (RF) scanning equipment to manage inventory, process orders, and confirm the accuracy of picked items throughout the fulfillment lifecycle.
- Perform a variety of physically demanding tasks, including walking, standing, bending, lifting, and carrying merchandise up to 50 pounds for the duration of the shift.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by adhering to all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
- Receive and unload inbound shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders and reporting any discrepancies, damages, or quality issues to management.
- Efficiently stow and replenish inventory in designated bin and rack locations, ensuring products are correctly placed and easily accessible for picking.
- Process customer returns, inspecting returned merchandise for quality and accurately entering return information into the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Operate material handling equipment (MHE) such as manual/electric pallet jacks and order pickers, following all certification and safety guidelines.
- Participate in regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits to ensure the accuracy and integrity of on-hand inventory records.
- Flexibly adapt to various roles within the fulfillment center, including picking, packing, shipping, receiving, and quality control, based on daily operational needs.
- Inspect products for defects, damages, and expiration dates before packing, escalating quality control issues to ensure customers receive only high-quality merchandise.
- Prepare and stage outbound shipments for carrier pickup, ensuring all packages are properly labeled, sorted by shipping method, and loaded correctly.
- Follow detailed instructions and standardized work procedures to ensure consistency and high quality across all fulfillment tasks.
- Uphold the company's brand standards by ensuring all outbound packages are presented professionally and meet customer experience expectations.
Secondary Functions
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to troubleshoot and resolve fulfillment issues, such as missing items or system errors, in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with team leads and managers regarding workflow, potential delays, and any barriers to completing tasks efficiently.
- Assist in the training and onboarding of new Outfitters on departmental procedures, safety protocols, and the proper use of equipment and systems.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement within the fulfillment workflow to enhance efficiency, safety, and quality.
- Manage and sort merchandise, mail, and other materials to ensure they are directed to the correct departments or staging areas within the facility.
- Utilize computer systems and warehouse management software (WMS) to look up order information, track packages, and update inventory statuses.
- Contribute to the organization's sustainability goals by participating in recycling and waste reduction programs within the facility.
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- RF Scanner Operation: Proficiency in using handheld radio frequency scanners for picking, packing, and inventory management.
- Warehouse Management System (WMS): Experience navigating and performing basic functions within a WMS platform.
- Material Handling Equipment (MHE): Ability to safely operate equipment like pallet jacks, order pickers, and dollies. Forklift certification is a plus.
- Basic Computer Proficiency: Skills to navigate computer systems for order lookup, data entry, and printing shipping labels.
