Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Directly supervise, train, and mentor a team of 15-30 fulfillment associates, providing ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and formal evaluations to foster a high-performance and positive work culture.
  • Orchestrate daily workflow and allocate staff resources effectively across picking, packing, shipping, and receiving functions to meet and exceed productivity targets and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Champion a world-class safety culture by rigorously enforcing all company policies and OSHA regulations, conducting regular safety audits, and leading incident investigations to maintain a secure and hazard-free work environment.
  • Drive team performance to meet and exceed key performance indicators (KPIs) including order accuracy, on-time shipping, order fill rate, units per hour (UPH), and cost per order.
  • Maintain impeccable inventory accuracy by overseeing and participating in cycle counts, physical inventories, and system adjustments within the Warehouse Management System (WMS), investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Act as the primary subject matter expert for the WMS, troubleshooting system issues, training new users, and collaborating with IT to optimize system functionality for improved efficiency.
  • Develop and implement standardized operating procedures (SOPs) for all fulfillment processes to ensure consistency, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly operational data to identify trends, pinpoint inefficiencies, and develop actionable strategies for continuous process improvement.
  • Manage inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring carrier pickups are timely, all shipments are properly documented, and any shipping-related issues are resolved swiftly.
  • Lead daily team huddles to communicate goals, celebrate wins, and address challenges, ensuring the entire team is aligned and motivated.
  • Resolve escalated customer service issues related to shipping errors, damages, or delays, performing root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.
  • Manage employee scheduling, timekeeping, and approval of time off to ensure adequate staffing levels that align with fluctuating order volumes and business forecasts.
  • Facilitate the onboarding and comprehensive training of new hires, ensuring they are proficient in all relevant procedures, safety protocols, and system usage.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments, including Inventory Control, Customer Service, and Transportation, to ensure seamless end-to-end order processing.

Secondary Functions

  • Support the Operations Manager with budget management, resource planning, and forecasting labor needs based on sales projections.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects, utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to optimize warehouse layout, workflow, and resource utilization.
  • Evaluate and recommend new equipment and technologies that can enhance productivity, safety, and efficiency within the fulfillment center.
  • Maintain the physical condition of the warehouse by ensuring equipment is properly maintained and that the facility is clean, organized, and compliant with 5S principles.
  • Prepare and present detailed operational performance reports to senior management, highlighting achievements, challenges, and strategic recommendations.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential disruptions in operations, such as equipment failure, system outages, or unexpected staffing shortages.
  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory data analysis to uncover new opportunities for operational enhancement.
  • Contribute to the organization's broader supply chain strategy and roadmap by providing insights from the fulfillment floor.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS): Advanced proficiency in using and configuring WMS platforms (e.g., Manhattan, JDA/Blue Yonder, NetSuite, ShipStation).
  • Inventory Management & Control: Deep understanding of inventory control techniques, including cycle counting, ABC analysis, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Ability to analyze operational metrics, identify trends, and generate reports using tools like Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs), Tableau, or similar BI software.
  • OSHA Safety Standards: In-depth knowledge of warehouse safety regulations and best practices.
  • ERP Systems: Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and how they integrate with WMS.
  • Labor Management Systems (LMS): Experience using LMS to track productivity and manage labor standards.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Methodologies: Practical experience applying continuous improvement principles to a warehouse environment.
  • Material Handling Equipment (MHE): Knowledge of warehouse equipment, including forklifts, order pickers, and conveyor systems; certification is a plus.
  • Shipping & Logistics Coordination: Experience with domestic and international shipping carriers (UPS, FedEx, DHL) and their software.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage small to medium-sized projects related to process improvement or system implementation.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:
