Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Accurately pick customer orders from designated warehouse locations using RF scanners, pick-to-light systems, or paper pick lists to ensure the highest level of order precision.
  • Expertly pack and prepare orders for shipment, selecting appropriate packing materials and methods to guarantee product safety and integrity during transit.
  • Process and print shipping labels for various carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL), ensuring full compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations.
  • Safely and efficiently operate material handling equipment (MHE) such as electric pallet jacks, forklifts, order pickers, and reach trucks to move inventory and fulfill orders.
  • Perform regular inventory control tasks, including cycle counts and full physical inventories, to maintain precise stock levels within the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Receive, unload, and meticulously inspect incoming shipments for damage, defects, and quantity discrepancies, verifying contents against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Execute the put-away process by sorting and stocking inbound inventory in its correct bin location, optimizing warehouse space and ensuring efficient future retrieval.
  • Diligently utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to update order statuses, track inventory movements, and generate reports on fulfillment activities and KPIs.
  • Conduct rigorous quality control checks on outbound orders to verify product accuracy, quantity, and adherence to packaging standards before they are dispatched.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and highly organized work environment by adhering to 5S principles, company safety protocols, and OSHA standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to troubleshoot and resolve fulfillment challenges, such as out-of-stock items, system errors, or shipping delays.
  • Monitor and manage fulfillment queues to strategically prioritize orders based on shipping deadlines, service level agreements (SLAs), and specific customer requirements.
  • Assist in the returns (reverse logistics) process by inspecting returned items, grading their condition, updating inventory records, and processing customer credits or exchanges.
  • Prepare, palletize, and stage outbound shipments for carrier pickup, ensuring all required documentation, like Bills of Lading (BOL), is complete and accurate.
  • Perform value-added services (VAS) as required by customer or product specifications, including kitting, product assembly, labeling, and creating custom bundles.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements to foster a culture of safety and prevent accidents.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or process inefficiencies to the shift supervisor for prompt investigation and resolution.

  • Interface with customer service or sales teams to address order-related inquiries and provide timely status updates, contributing to a seamless customer experience.
  • Process transactions for kitting and assembly work orders, ensuring components are consumed correctly and finished goods are accurately recorded in the inventory system.

Secondary Functions

  • Support ad-hoc requests for order data and perform basic analysis on fulfillment metrics like pick rate and order accuracy.
  • Contribute to the warehouse's continuous improvement goals by actively identifying and documenting process inefficiencies.
  • Collaborate with inventory and operations teams to translate fulfillment challenges into actionable improvement suggestions.
  • Participate in daily team huddles, safety briefings, and planning sessions to stay aligned with departmental goals and priorities.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • RF Scanner Proficiency: Experience using RF (Radio Frequency) scanners and other handheld devices for picking, packing, and inventory tasks.
  • WMS Experience: Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) such as NetSuite, Oracle, Manhattan, or similar platforms.
  • Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Operation: Competency in operating equipment like forklifts, pallet jacks, and order pickers (current certification is a strong plus).
  • Shipping Software Knowledge: Experience with carrier platforms (e.g., FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip) and multi-carrier shipping software.
  • Inventory Control: Solid understanding of inventory management practices, including cycle counting and FIFO/LIFO principles.
  • Computer Literacy: Basic computer skills, including accurate data entry, email communication (Outlook), and familiarity with spreadsheets (Excel).
  • Documentation Comprehension: Ability to read and interpret pick tickets, packing slips, work orders, and Bills of Lading (BOL).
    -Quality Assurance: Knowledge of QA/QC inspection processes for inbound and outbound goods.
  • Safety Protocol Knowledge: Understanding of warehouse safety standards and basic OSHA regulations.
  • Basic Math Skills: Ability to perform accurate counts, addition, subtraction, and multiplication for inventory and order verification.
