Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop, propose, and implement customized asset allocation and investment strategies tailored to each client's unique financial goals, risk tolerance, and investment policy statement.
  • Conduct comprehensive, ongoing due diligence on a universe of investment managers and fund products across various asset classes, including equities, fixed income, and alternatives.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for client relationships, fostering deep, long-term partnerships built on trust, transparency, and proactive communication.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling and insightful client-facing presentations, including detailed performance reviews, market outlooks, and strategic investment recommendations.
  • Proactively monitor and analyze client portfolios, recommending and executing rebalancing adjustments to ensure continued alignment with strategic objectives and market conditions.
  • Provide expert guidance and education to clients on complex financial topics, investment vehicles, and capital market dynamics in a clear and accessible manner.
  • Perform rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis of investment funds, evaluating their philosophy, process, people, and performance to form conviction-based recommendations.
  • Stay at the forefront of global economic trends, market shifts, and geopolitical events to identify emerging investment opportunities and potential portfolio risks.
  • Articulate the firm’s investment philosophy and value proposition effectively to prospective clients, leading discovery meetings and new business pitches.
  • Guide clients through the entire lifecycle, from initial needs analysis and onboarding to ongoing strategic reviews and ad-hoc advisory.
  • Source and evaluate new and innovative investment strategies, including private equity, hedge funds, real estate, and other alternative investments, to enhance portfolio diversification.
  • Collaborate closely with the firm's central investment committee and research teams to contribute to house views and refine manager selection frameworks.
  • Ensure all client interactions, recommendations, and portfolio activities adhere strictly to internal policies and external regulatory requirements (e.g., SEC, FINRA).
  • Construct and maintain sophisticated financial models for portfolio projection, scenario analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Drive the growth of the practice by identifying opportunities for asset growth within the existing client base and actively participating in business development initiatives.

Secondary Functions

  • Respond to and manage the creation of detailed Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs) for prospective institutional clients.
  • Author and contribute to thought leadership content, such as white papers, market commentaries, and client newsletters, to enhance firm visibility and client engagement.
  • Mentor, train, and provide guidance to junior analysts and associates on the team, fostering their professional development in investment analysis and client service.
  • Liaise with custodians, administrators, and other third-party service providers to ensure seamless operational support for client accounts.
  • Utilize and master a suite of technology and software platforms (e.g., Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, FactSet, CRM systems) for research, reporting, and client management.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Portfolio Construction & Management: Deep understanding of modern portfolio theory, asset allocation, and risk management techniques.
  • Investment & Manager Due Diligence: Expertise in conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis of mutual funds, ETFs, and alternative investment vehicles.
  • Financial Modeling & Analysis: Ability to build and interpret complex financial models to support investment decisions and portfolio analysis.
  • Market Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of global capital markets, economics, and various asset classes.
  • Technical Proficiency: High proficiency with investment research software like Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg Terminal, FactSet, and/or eVestment.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.

  • Holding or actively pursuing professional designations such as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range: 5-10 years of progressive experience in investment management, wealth management, or institutional consulting.
