Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Safely operate funeral vehicles, including hearses, limousines, and transport vans, for the purpose of transporting deceased individuals.
  • Plan routes and schedule pickups and drop-offs to ensure timely arrivals for funeral services and ceremonies.
  • Maintain vehicles in clean, polished, and operational condition, performing routine checks on oil, fuel, tires, and other essential systems.
  • Load and secure caskets or urns with care to prevent damage during transit.
  • Coordinate with funeral directors, mortuary staff, and family members to ensure service requirements are met.
  • Follow strict traffic laws, road safety standards, and company driving policies.
  • Handle confidential information and sensitive situations with discretion, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Assist funeral staff in setting up and preparing vehicles for ceremonies and processions.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle meets operational and safety standards.
  • Navigate through urban and rural areas, considering route optimization and traffic conditions.
