Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Safely operate a company vehicle, typically a 16 to 26-foot box truck, in strict compliance with all company policies and DOT regulations.
- Meticulously load and unload furniture, utilizing proper material handling equipment and techniques to prevent damage to merchandise, the vehicle, and customer property.
- Provide exceptional "white glove" delivery service, including carrying items into the home, unpacking, and placing furniture in the customer's desired location.
- Expertly assemble a wide variety of furniture items (e.g., beds, tables, shelving units) in customers' homes using basic hand and power tools.
- Conduct thorough pre-delivery inspections of all furniture pieces to identify and report any existing damage or defects before leaving the warehouse.
- Maintain clear and continuous communication with the dispatch team, providing real-time updates on delivery progress, delays, or any on-site issues.
- Accurately manage and complete all required delivery documentation, including digital proof of delivery, customer signatures, and processing payments when necessary.
- Utilize GPS navigation systems and proprietary delivery applications on a handheld device to optimize routes and manage delivery schedules efficiently.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (e.g., checking fluids, tires, lights) and report any maintenance or safety issues immediately.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and professional appearance of your assigned delivery vehicle, both inside the cab and the cargo area.
- Interact with customers in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner, effectively answering questions and resolving any concerns that may arise during delivery.
- Carefully navigate diverse residential environments, including tight driveways, apartment complexes, and multi-story buildings, while ensuring safety at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with a delivery helper to safely lift, carry, and maneuver heavy, bulky, and often awkward items.
- Adhere to a dynamic delivery schedule while demonstrating flexibility to adapt to unforeseen challenges like traffic, weather, or customer needs.
- Remove all packaging, cardboard, and debris from the customer's home after assembly, leaving the space clean and tidy.
- Follow specific customer instructions and preferences for delivery and placement to ensure a personalized and highly satisfactory service.
- Professionally handle product returns, which includes inspecting the item for its condition, documenting the reason for return, and safely transporting it back to the distribution center.
- Assist with warehouse duties during downtime, such as staging upcoming deliveries, organizing inventory, and unloading inbound shipments.
- Securely wrap, pad, and strap furniture within the truck using blankets, bands, and tie-downs to prevent shifting and damage during transit.
- Act as the face of the company, upholding our commitment to quality and service excellence in every customer interaction.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Valid State Driver's License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Box Truck Operation: Proven ability to safely operate and maneuver box trucks (16ft - 26ft).
- Physical Strength & Stamina: Ability to consistently lift, push, and pull heavy items (75+ lbs) individually or as part of a team.
- Tool Proficiency: Competency in using basic hand and power tools (drills, wrenches, etc.) for furniture assembly.
