Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively engage and welcome every client entering the showroom, establishing a warm, professional rapport to begin a consultative sales conversation.
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments and qualifying conversations to deeply understand a client's lifestyle, design preferences, spatial constraints, and budget.
  • Guide clients through the showroom, expertly presenting furniture and accessory collections while articulating product features, benefits, construction details, and customization options.
  • Develop and present comprehensive design solutions, including creating floor plans, selecting fabrics and finishes, and coordinating pieces to create a cohesive aesthetic.
  • Generate and present detailed sales proposals and quotes, clearly outlining pricing, financing options, warranties, and delivery timelines.
  • Consistently achieve and exceed individual and team sales goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Build and maintain a strong client portfolio through diligent follow-up, clienteling, and relationship-management practices to encourage repeat business and referrals.
  • Utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to meticulously track client interactions, manage sales pipelines, and schedule follow-up communications.
  • Process sales transactions accurately using the Point of Sale (POS) system, including custom orders, financing applications, and scheduling deliveries.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for the client throughout the order lifecycle, from purchase and order tracking to coordinating delivery and post-sale service.
  • Actively resolve customer issues or concerns with patience and professionalism, collaborating with management and support teams to ensure a satisfactory outcome.
  • Continuously develop and maintain an expert-level knowledge of all product lines, including materials, craftsmanship, brand stories, and care instructions.
  • Stay current with interior design trends, industry standards, and competitor offerings to provide relevant and informed advice to clients.
  • Participate in and actively contribute to regular sales meetings and ongoing product and skills training sessions provided by the company.
  • Assist in maintaining the visual integrity and cleanliness of the showroom, ensuring it is always pristine, well-organized, and shoppable.
  • Conduct in-home design consultations to provide a higher level of personalized service, taking measurements and assessing the client's space firsthand.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow sales consultants, warehouse staff, and the delivery team to ensure a seamless and positive customer experience.
  • Proactively prospect for new clients through networking, outreach, and by maximizing opportunities with walk-in traffic.
  • Manage special orders from inception to completion, ensuring accuracy in specifications and communicating timelines effectively with the customer.
  • Educate customers on available protection plans, warranties, and financing options to enhance their purchase and provide peace of mind.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Proven Sales Acumen: Demonstrated ability to drive sales and meet or exceed targets in a retail or commission-based environment.
  • Interior Design Principles: Solid understanding of color theory, space planning, scale, and proportion to create functional and aesthetically pleasing layouts.
  • Product Knowledge: Ability to quickly learn and retain detailed information about furniture construction, materials (woods, fabrics, leathers), and brands.
