Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Deliver exceptional, prompt, and courteous customer service to all patrons, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience from arrival to departure.
- Accurately and safely dispense the correct type and amount of fuel into customer vehicles as requested, following all safety guidelines.
- Expertly handle all payment transactions, including cash, credit/debit cards, and fleet cards, ensuring accuracy and providing correct change.
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently to process fuel sales, convenience store purchases, and other services like car washes.
- Proactively offer and perform complimentary services such as washing vehicle windshields and checking essential fluid levels (e.g., oil, washer fluid) for customers.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization across the entire station, including fuel islands, pump areas, landscaping, and surrounding grounds.
- Routinely inspect and clean fuel pumps, nozzles, and hoses to ensure they are in good working order and present a professional, well-maintained image.
- Monitor fuel levels in underground storage tanks using appropriate gauges and systems, and report readings to management to ensure timely fuel deliveries.
- Strictly adhere to all company policies and government regulations regarding health, safety, and environmental protection, particularly concerning the handling of flammable materials.
- Respond immediately and appropriately to any fuel spills or emergency situations, following established safety protocols to mitigate risks and ensure public safety.
- Assist customers with basic automotive needs, such as checking and inflating tire pressure to the manufacturer's recommended levels.
- Actively promote and clearly explain station promotions, loyalty programs, and special offers to drive sales and enhance customer retention.
- Address customer inquiries, complaints, and concerns in a professional and timely manner, striving for first-contact resolution and escalating complex issues to a supervisor when necessary.
- Conduct regular inventory checks on ancillary supplies like paper towels, washer fluid, and receipt paper, restocking as needed to prevent service interruptions.
- Perform routine site maintenance tasks, including emptying trash receptacles, cleaning restrooms, and ensuring all public areas are tidy, safe, and accessible.
- When applicable, assist with stocking, organizing, and front-facing merchandise within the associated convenience store to maintain an appealing presentation.
- Provide customers with accurate directions and information about local routes or points of interest, serving as a helpful community resource.
- Conduct visual security checks of the premises to identify and report any suspicious activity to management or the appropriate authorities.
- Complete all required shift reports, sales logs, and other administrative documentation with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Prepare the station for opening or closing by executing all required procedures, such as activating/deactivating pumps, securing cash, and ensuring the premises are safe.
