Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Execute the complete installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial gas lines, ensuring every connection and fitting strictly complies with all relevant local, state, and national gas and plumbing codes.
Skillfully perform the professional installation of a diverse range of gas-fueled appliances, including but not limited to furnaces, boilers, tank and tankless water heaters, fireplaces, cooking ranges, and clothes dryers.
Conduct meticulous pressure testing and leak detection procedures on all new and existing gas piping systems, utilizing calibrated manometers and electronic gas detectors to guarantee absolute system integrity and public safety.
Interpret and work from complex blueprints, isometric drawings, schematics, and detailed job specifications to accurately plan, lay out, and install gas piping networks and associated equipment.
Safely and precisely measure, cut, thread, and join various types of approved piping materials (such as black iron, copper, and corrugated stainless steel tubing - CSST) using a full range of hand and power tools.
Carry out comprehensive safety inspections and functional commissioning checks on newly installed systems, verifying correct operation, calibrating controls, and ensuring they meet or exceed manufacturer's performance specifications.
Provide clear, courteous, and thorough explanations of the work performed, system operation, and safety features to customers, ensuring they are comfortable and knowledgeable about their new gas systems.
Systematically diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in complex gas systems and appliances, identifying the root cause of issues related to gas flow, ignition, combustion, or venting and implementing effective, lasting repairs.
Diligently complete all required job-related documentation, including digital or paper work orders, detailed service reports, commissioning checklists, and safety forms, with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.
Maintain a clean, organized, and exceptionally safe work environment at all job sites, rigorously adhering to all company, OSHA, and industry-specific safety protocols and procedures without exception.
Proactively manage and maintain the inventory of parts, tools, and equipment in a service vehicle, ensuring the van is well-stocked to handle scheduled installations and respond to urgent service calls efficiently.
Collaborate effectively with other trade professionals, including plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, and general contractors, to ensure seamless project coordination and execution on larger construction or renovation projects.

Respond promptly and professionally to emergency service calls for suspected gas leaks or critical system failures, providing rapid assessment and reliable solutions to secure the site and protect customer safety.
Size gas piping systems appropriately by performing detailed calculations based on the total BTUH load of all connected appliances and the length of the pipe run to ensure adequate gas pressure and flow.
Commission newly installed hydronic and forced-air heating systems by performing combustion analysis with a calibrated analyzer to optimize fuel efficiency, safety, and performance while ensuring proper venting.
Educate homeowners, property managers, and business owners on best practices for routine maintenance that can extend the life, improve the efficiency, and ensure the safety of their gas systems and appliances.
Safely disassemble and remove old or obsolete gas systems and appliances from customer premises, ensuring proper shutdown procedures are followed and materials are disposed of in accordance with environmental regulations.
Install and service gas regulators, meters, and associated components, ensuring they are correctly sized and set for the specific application and system demand.

Secondary Functions
