Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Execute the professional installation, maintenance, and repair of a diverse range of gas-fired appliances, including furnaces, boilers, water heaters, fireplaces, and rooftop units.
Perform meticulous diagnostic tests on complex gas systems and associated control circuits to accurately pinpoint malfunctions and their root causes.
Conduct thorough pressure tests and leak detection surveys on new and existing gas piping systems using calibrated manometers and electronic gas detectors.
Skillfully repair or replace defective gas system components, such as regulators, valves, meters, thermostats, and ignition control modules.
Ensure every aspect of installation, service, and repair work strictly adheres to all relevant national, provincial/state, and local gas codes and safety regulations.
Respond promptly and professionally to emergency gas leak calls, rapidly assessing the situation and executing immediate, decisive actions to secure the area and mitigate risks.
Interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to understand system layouts and ensure accurate installation and service.
Perform precision pipefitting, including cutting, threading, and joining of various gas piping materials like black iron, copper, and Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing (CSST).
Conduct comprehensive combustion analysis using digital analyzers to tune appliances for optimal efficiency, performance, and safety.
Troubleshoot and repair sophisticated electronic ignition systems, multi-stage controls, and variable-speed motor controls found in modern high-efficiency equipment.
Perform conversions of gas appliances from natural gas to propane (or vice-versa), ensuring correct orifice sizing and pressure regulator adjustments.
Install and verify the proper functioning of critical ventilation, venting, and combustion air systems to ensure safe operation and prevent carbon monoxide hazards.
Systematically perform preventative maintenance on residential and commercial gas systems to identify potential issues and prolong equipment lifespan.

Secondary Functions

Educate customers on the safe operation of their gas appliances, system maintenance requirements, and energy-saving best practices.
Maintain meticulous and accurate records for all service calls, including detailed descriptions of work performed, parts utilized, and time on-site, through digital or paper-based work orders.
