Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Execute a wide range of precision haircuts using clippers, shears, and razors, tailoring each cut to the client's head shape, hair type, and personal style.
  • Perform classic and modern fading techniques, including skin fades, tapers, and shadow fades, ensuring seamless and flawless blends.
  • Provide expert straight-razor shaves, including hot towel treatments, pre-shave oils, and post-shave balms for a comfortable and luxurious client experience.
  • Conduct thorough client consultations to understand their grooming needs, offer professional recommendations, and establish a clear plan for the service.
  • Sculpt, trim, and shape beards and mustaches with meticulous attention to detail, using a combination of clippers, trimmers, and shears to achieve desired looks.
  • Offer and perform specialized hair and scalp treatments, such as deep conditioning, scalp massages, and clarifying treatments, to improve hair health.
  • Advise clients on daily hair care routines, styling techniques, and the appropriate use of grooming products to maintain their look between visits.
  • Maintain an impeccable level of hygiene and sanitation, ensuring all tools, equipment, and workstations are thoroughly cleaned and sterilized according to state board regulations.
  • Stay current with the latest trends, techniques, and styles in men's hairdressing and barbering through continuous education and practice.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, creating a welcoming, friendly, and professional atmosphere for every client from arrival to departure.
  • Manage appointment schedules effectively to minimize client wait times and maximize the daily booking potential.
  • Handle point-of-sale transactions, including processing payments, rebooking future appointments, and managing the cash drawer accurately.

Secondary Functions

  • Assist in managing and maintaining inventory of professional backbar products and retail items, notifying management when supplies are low.
  • Actively promote and sell retail grooming products, educating clients on the benefits and proper application to help them achieve their style at home.
  • Contribute to the barbershop's marketing efforts, which may include participating in social media content creation like before-and-after photos or styling videos.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to apprentice barbers or junior staff, sharing knowledge and helping to foster a collaborative and skilled team environment.
