Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Meticulously pick products for customer orders from warehouse locations, ensuring 100% accuracy in item, color, and size selection.
  • Expertly assemble, wrap, and package gift items according to strict brand standards, including the use of custom boxes, tissue paper, ribbons, and other decorative materials.
  • Carefully include personalized elements such as handwritten notes, gift messages, and custom engravings with an exceptional eye for detail.
  • Generate and apply accurate shipping labels using shipping software platforms (e.g., ShipStation, Shippo) for various carriers like USPS, UPS, and FedEx.
  • Conduct thorough final quality control inspections on all outgoing packages to ensure they are secure, presentable, and meet all order specifications.
  • Manage the daily order queue, strategically prioritizing shipments based on customer-selected shipping methods (e.g., Overnight, 2-Day, Standard) and delivery deadlines.
  • Safely and efficiently pack a high volume of orders, utilizing appropriate dunnage and packing techniques to prevent damage during transit, especially for fragile items.
  • Operate and maintain shipping station equipment, including printers, scales, tape guns, and barcode scanners, ensuring they are always in good working order.
  • Receive, unpack, and process incoming inventory shipments, verifying contents against packing slips and purchase orders, and reporting any discrepancies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment by systematically stocking products, organizing shipping supplies, and adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Perform regular cycle counts and assist in full physical inventory audits to ensure the accuracy of stock levels within the warehouse management system (WMS).
  • Monitor and restock all packing and shipping stations with necessary supplies, including boxes, mailers, tape, labels, and gift-wrap materials.
  • Process customer returns and exchanges, carefully inspecting the condition of returned goods and updating inventory and order statuses in the system.
  • Collaborate closely with the entire fulfillment team to meet and exceed daily, weekly, and seasonal shipping targets and operational goals.
  • Track outbound shipments and proactively communicate with the customer service team to resolve any shipping-related inquiries or potential delays.
  • Handle high-value and complex orders with extra care, ensuring all components are included and packaging is immaculate.
  • Assist in assembling gift sets and pre-kitting product bundles in preparation for peak seasons and marketing promotions.
  • Identify and troubleshoot order discrepancies, such as missing items or incorrect addresses, before they are dispatched.
  • Communicate effectively with warehouse leadership regarding any workflow barriers, supply shortages, or system issues.
  • Adhere to specific handling instructions for a diverse range of products, including fragile, perishable, or uniquely shaped items.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

  • Proficiency with e-commerce shipping software such as ShipStation, Shippo, Stamps.com, UPS WorldShip, or FedEx Ship Manager.
  • Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or e-commerce platform backends like Shopify or BigCommerce for order processing.
  • Ability to operate standard warehouse equipment including hand trucks, pallet jacks, and RF scanners.
  • Competent in basic computer skills for data entry, printing labels, and internal communication via email or messaging platforms.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international shipping carriers, services, and requirements.
  • Ability to accurately weigh packages, calculate postage, and select the most appropriate and cost-effective shipping method.

Education & Experience

Educational Background

Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Education:

  • Associate's degree or certificate in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a warehouse, fulfillment, or shipping/receiving role.

Preferred:

  • Direct experience in a high-volume, direct-to-consumer (DTC) e-commerce environment, particularly with a focus on gifting, apparel, or other fragile/aesthetic goods. Previous experience in a role requiring gift wrapping or detailed assembly is a significant plus.
