Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Operate and meticulously monitor advanced glass processing equipment, including CNC cutting tables, edging machines, tempering furnaces, and laminating lines.
Interpret and execute complex work orders, blueprints, and digital drawings to determine precise cutting dimensions, edge profiles, and processing requirements.
Handle and transport large, heavy sheets of glass with proficiency using overhead cranes, suction-cup lifters, and other specialized material handling equipment.
Set up and calibrate machinery before each production run, adjusting settings for cutting heads, furnace temperatures, press pressures, and conveyor speeds.
Perform rigorous in-process and final quality control inspections to identify and report any defects such as scratches, chips, bubbles, or dimensional inaccuracies.
Execute the tempering process by carefully loading glass into the furnace, monitoring critical heating and cooling cycles, and ensuring proper quenching to achieve desired strength.
Skillfully perform seaming or arrissing on glass edges to remove sharpness and stress points, preparing the material for safe handling and tempering.
Use precision measuring tools, including tape measures, calipers, squares, and digital gauges, to verify that finished products conform to exact specifications and tolerances.
Load raw glass sheets onto production lines and unload finished products onto A-frames, carts, or custom racks, ensuring proper staging for subsequent processes.
Troubleshoot machine operations in real-time to diagnose malfunctions, make necessary adjustments, or escalate complex issues to the maintenance department to minimize downtime.
Manage the sorting and organization of glass based on size, thickness, type, and customer order to maintain an efficient and logical production flow.
Ensure the secure packaging of finished glass products for transport, applying protective materials, crating, and proper labeling to prevent damage during shipment.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of different glass types (e.g., float, low-E, laminated, tempered) and their specific handling and processing characteristics.
Operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks to move pallets of raw glass, finished goods, and other materials throughout the facility.
