Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the scope of work, including the type, size, and location of glass to be installed.
Conduct precise field measurements for windows, doors, storefronts, curtain walls, and other glass applications to ensure accurate material ordering and fabrication.
Safely and efficiently remove old or broken glass, sashes, or frames from structures, preparing the opening for new installation.
Cut, shape, and smooth glass and other materials, such as mirrors and plastics, using hand and power tools with a high degree of accuracy.
Install prefabricated glass units, such as insulated glass units (IGUs), storefront systems, and curtain walls, into frames and sashes.
Expertly apply sealants, gaskets, and weather-stripping, such as caulk and putty, around glass edges to ensure a watertight and airtight seal.
Fasten glass panels into sashes or frames with clips, moldings, or other types of fasteners, ensuring a secure and stable fit.
Perform detailed auto glass replacement, including windshields, side windows, and rear windows, following all safety standards and adhesive curing procedures.
Repair and calibrate Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) following windshield replacement to ensure vehicle safety features function correctly.
Install and service specialty glass products, including security glass, fire-rated glass, custom mirrors, and decorative glass panels.
Operate and maintain hoists, cranes, and suction-cup lifting equipment for moving and positioning large, heavy glass panels on commercial job sites.
Load and unload glass and related materials from trucks, ensuring safe handling and transport to and from the work site.
Adhere strictly to all company and industry safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) like safety glasses, gloves, and harnesses.
Conduct pre-installation inspections of frames, surfaces, and job site conditions to identify and report any potential issues.
Manage job site logistics, including coordinating with other trades, to ensure a smooth and efficient installation process.
