Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Architect and execute multi-year global sourcing strategies for key commodity and spend categories to deliver sustainable cost reductions and secure long-term supply continuity.
  • Lead the full lifecycle of supplier relationship management, from initial identification, rigorous evaluation, and qualification to performance monitoring and strategic partnership development.
  • Drive and lead complex, high-value contract negotiations and formulate master supply agreements with global suppliers, ensuring favorable terms that mitigate risk and maximize value.
  • Conduct deep-dive market intelligence and commodity trend analysis to anticipate market shifts, inform strategic decisions, and develop proactive risk mitigation plans.
  • Partner intimately with R&D, Engineering, and Product Development teams during the New Product Introduction (NPI) process to ensure early supplier involvement and design for manufacturability and cost.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives across the supply base, driving advancements in quality, cost, delivery (QCD), technology, and sustainability.
  • Develop, implement, and meticulously track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to objectively measure supplier performance and the overall effectiveness of sourcing strategies.
  • Analyze and model the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for all sourcing decisions, factoring in logistics, tariffs, duties, inventory, quality, and currency fluctuation.
  • Ensure unwavering compliance with international trade regulations, ethical sourcing policies, environmental standards, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) mandates.
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of direct and/or indirect spend, developing bespoke category strategies that align with overarching business objectives.
  • Lead formal Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with strategic suppliers to assess performance, address challenges, and align on joint goals for innovation and growth.
  • Skillfully utilize e-sourcing and procurement platforms (e.g., Ariba, Coupa, SAP) to manage the RFx (RFI, RFQ, RFP) process with efficiency and transparency.
  • Proactively identify and manage potential supply chain disruptions, including geopolitical instability, natural disasters, supplier financial health, and logistical bottlenecks.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams to execute complex, large-scale sourcing initiatives, ensuring stakeholder alignment and on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Travel internationally as required to visit supplier facilities for capability audits, process validation, executive business reviews, and relationship-building activities.

Secondary Functions

  • Develop sophisticated "should-cost" models and clean-sheet analyses for critical components and services to strengthen negotiation leverage and validate supplier pricing.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and mentor for junior sourcing professionals, providing guidance on best practices in negotiation, market analysis, and supplier management.
  • Champion and embed sustainable and ethical sourcing practices throughout the organization, influencing both internal stakeholders and external supply partners.
  • Resolve complex and escalated supplier-related issues, including chronic quality defects, significant delivery delays, and intricate contractual disputes.
  • Collaborate with the finance and planning teams to provide accurate forecasting for material costs, purchase price variance (PPV), and projected cost savings.
  • Support ad-hoc data requests and exploratory analyses to provide leadership with timely insights into spend patterns, market conditions, and sourcing opportunities.
