Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Interpret and work from complex blueprints, work orders, and technical specifications to determine the precise assembly sequence and required adhesive materials.
Meticulously prepare component surfaces for bonding by performing cleaning, sanding, abrading, or applying chemical primers to ensure optimal adhesion and long-term durability.
Precisely measure and mix multi-part adhesives, epoxies, and various bonding agents according to strict manufacturer guidelines and internal standard operating procedures.
Skillfully apply adhesives to components using a variety of methods, including manual applicators, brushes, rollers, and semi-automated dispensing equipment.
Accurately position, align, and join parts, sub-assemblies, or substrates together following the application of adhesive, ensuring perfect fit and form.
Operate and closely monitor curing equipment, such as industrial ovens, UV lights, and heat lamps, verifying that proper time and temperature profiles are consistently met for a secure bond.
Perform continuous in-process quality checks and detailed visual inspections to identify and rectify any defects, such as air bubbles, voids, or improper bond lines.
Utilize precision measuring instruments, including digital calipers, micrometers, and specialized gauges, to verify that all assembled parts meet strict dimensional tolerances.
Maintain detailed and accurate production records, logs, and traceability documentation, including material lot numbers, process parameters, and inspection results.
Safely handle, store, and dispose of various chemicals and adhesives, strictly following all Safety Data Sheet (SDS) guidelines and company-wide safety protocols.
Perform routine preventative maintenance and thorough cleaning of all tools, dispensing equipment, and the immediate work area to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient environment.
Collaborate effectively with engineering and quality assurance departments to troubleshoot bonding issues, analyze failures, and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Assemble components within a cleanroom or other environmentally controlled areas, strictly adhering to all gowning, hygiene, and contamination control procedures.
Conduct bond strength testing, such as peel tests or lap shear tests, on sample coupons or finished parts as mandated by internal and external quality standards.
Work with extremely delicate, high-value, or sensitive components, exercising exceptional care and precision to prevent any damage during handling and the assembly process.
Set up, program, and calibrate adhesive dispensing machines, fixtures, and jigs to ensure consistent, accurate, and repeatable application results across production runs.
Identify any non-conforming products, components, or raw materials, promptly segregating them and reporting the discrepancy to the production lead or quality department.
Expertly mask and de-mask parts before and after the bonding process to protect critical surfaces and cosmetic finishes from contamination or excess adhesive.
Ensure all completed assemblies are properly identified, labeled, and carefully routed to the next stage of the manufacturing process or to final inspection.
Actively participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement events (like Kaizen) to help enhance productivity, eliminate waste, and streamline workflows.

Secondary Functions

Assist in managing the inventory of adhesives, solvents, and related application supplies, notifying supervisors when stock levels are low to prevent production delays.
Support the training and mentoring of new team members on standard operating procedures for gluing, surface preparation, and the safe handling of materials.
Contribute to team meetings by providing feedback on production challenges and suggesting potential solutions or process enhancements.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace in accordance with 5S principles to promote safety and efficiency.

Experience Requirements

Typical Experience Range:

Prior experience working in an ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485 certified facility is highly desirable.
