Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Perform comprehensive diagnostic testing on gas and electric golf carts to accurately identify mechanical failures, electrical issues, and battery system malfunctions.
Execute major and minor repairs on gasoline engines, including tune-ups, carburetor adjustments, and complete engine overhauls.
Troubleshoot, repair, and replace components in electric cart systems, such as controllers, solenoids, motors, and onboard computer systems.
Conduct thorough preventative maintenance tasks, including oil changes, battery watering and testing, brake adjustments, and lubrication of moving parts to maximize fleet longevity.
Diagnose and repair complex electrical wiring issues, utilizing wiring diagrams and schematics to trace faults and restore functionality.
Perform intricate brake system services, including the replacement of brake shoes, drums, cables, and hydraulic components.
Address and repair issues related to steering and suspension systems, including alignments, replacement of tie rods, shocks, and leaf springs.
Mount, dismount, balance, and rotate tires, inspecting for wear and tear and ensuring proper inflation across the fleet.
Rebuild and replace transaxles, differentials, and other drivetrain components to ensure smooth and efficient power transfer.
Utilize specialized diagnostic equipment and software to interface with modern golf cart control systems for troubleshooting and programming.
Maintain and service golf cart battery packs, including load testing, terminal cleaning, cell replacement, and ensuring proper charging cycles.
Perform cosmetic repairs and accessory installations, such as replacing body panels, windshields, lights, and custom seating.
Respond to in-field service calls to diagnose and perform emergency repairs on disabled carts on the course or property.

Secondary Functions

Meticulously document all maintenance actions, parts used, and labor time for each vehicle within the fleet management software or service logs.
Assist in managing the inventory of spare parts, tires, batteries, and shop supplies, and initiate purchase orders to maintain adequate stock levels.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in the service bay, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
Provide clear and professional communication to management or customers regarding repair status, required work, and estimated costs.
Assist with the preparation and commissioning of new carts for service and the decommissioning of retired fleet vehicles.
Conduct regular quality control inspections on all serviced vehicles to ensure repairs meet established standards before returning to service.
Provide training and guidance to less experienced technicians or seasonal staff on basic maintenance procedures.

Required Skills & Competencies

Hard Skills (Technical)

Deep proficiency in diagnosing and repairing both 4-cycle gasoline engines and DC/AC electric vehicle systems.
Strong understanding of 12v, 36v, and 48v electrical systems, with the ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
Proven experience with the repair and maintenance of major golf cart brands such as Club Car, E-Z-GO, and Yamaha.
Competency in using a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and specialized diagnostic equipment (e.g., multimeters, battery load testers, handheld programmers).
Knowledge of brake systems, steering mechanisms, and suspension components specific to turf and utility vehicles.
Experience with battery maintenance, charging systems, and troubleshooting for deep-cycle lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries.
