Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Perform meticulous cleaning, detailing, and polishing of members' and guests' golf clubs upon completion of play, using specialized tools and solutions to ensure optimal performance.
- Greet all members and guests with a warm, professional welcome upon their arrival and departure, proactively offering assistance with their golf bags and equipment.
- Manage the efficient transportation and staging of golf bags from the bag drop area to assigned golf carts and back to the bag storage room or members' vehicles.
- Conduct thorough inspections of golf clubs for any damage, such as loose club heads, worn grips, or shaft defects, and report findings to the member and Pro Shop staff.
- Organize, tag, and store cleaned golf bags in the designated bag storage facility, maintaining a precise organizational system for quick and accurate retrieval.
- Provide an exceptional, anticipatory level of customer service by answering questions, providing directions, and sharing knowledge about the course and club amenities.
- Develop a strong working knowledge of the club's membership, striving to recognize members by name to provide a highly personalized and memorable service experience.
- Maintain constant communication with the Pro Shop, Starter, and other golf operations staff to ensure a seamless flow of information regarding tee times, player needs, and pace of play.
- Assist in the complete setup and breakdown of the driving range, which includes collecting, washing, and restocking range balls to ensure constant availability for players.
- Ensure the driving range hitting bays are immaculately maintained, with practice balls properly stacked in pyramids and all amenities like bag stands and chairs are clean and in place.
- Act as a key ambassador for the club, consistently upholding a positive and welcoming atmosphere for all members, guests, and fellow team members.
- Handle special requests from members and guests with efficiency and a courteous demeanor, demonstrating a "can-do" attitude to exceed expectations.
Secondary Functions
- Detail and maintain the club's fleet of golf carts, including washing exteriors, cleaning interiors, and stocking them with necessary supplies like scorecards, pencils, and sand/seed bottles.
- Execute the daily staging of golf carts for regular play and special events, ensuring each cart is fully charged, operational, and placed according to the tee sheet or tournament director's plan.
- Assist with the operational logistics for golf tournaments and corporate outings, including staging carts with custom signage and player assignments.
- Diligently maintain the cleanliness, safety, and organization of the bag room, cart barn, club cleaning stations, and all other outside service areas.
- Monitor and replenish all necessary supplies for club cleaning, cart detailing, and driving range operations, notifying a supervisor when inventory levels are low.
- Perform minor preventative maintenance on outside service equipment, such as checking golf cart tire pressure and battery water levels, and report larger issues for repair.
- Safely operate specialized equipment, including the driving range ball picker and high-pressure washers, in accordance with all club safety protocols.
- Uphold and enforce all club policies and safety procedures, particularly those related to the proper and safe operation of golf carts on club property.
- Support fellow outside services staff and other departments as needed to ensure the smooth overall functioning of the club's daily operations.
- Provide accurate club and bag retrieval services from the bag storage room, ensuring members receive their correct equipment in a timely manner before their round.
Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Foundational knowledge of golf equipment, including different types of clubs, bags, and accessories.
- Proficiency in the safe operation and maneuvering of electric and gas-powered golf carts.
- Familiarity with the use of club cleaning tools, brushes, and industry-approved cleaning solvents.
- Ability to operate range maintenance equipment, such as a mechanical range ball picker.
- Basic understanding of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
