Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

Execute precision mowing of greens, tees, aprons, and fairways using various specialized walk-behind and riding mowers to meet exacting standards for playability and turf health.
Perform daily course setup procedures, including changing cup locations on greens, setting tee markers, moving ropes and barricades, and clearing playing surfaces of debris.
Maintain all sand bunkers by raking them mechanically and by hand to ensure consistent sand depth, texture, and playability, as well as performing necessary edging and weeding.
Operate a wide range of heavy and light-duty turf maintenance equipment, such as tractors, loaders, aerators, topdressers, and utility vehicles, in a safe and efficient manner.
Participate in key cultural practices essential for turfgrass health, including core aerification, verticutting, topdressing, and overseeding of all playing surfaces.
Assist in the maintenance and repair of the golf course irrigation system, which involves replacing sprinkler heads, repairing pipe leaks, and performing adjustments to ensure uniform water coverage.
Conduct supplemental watering (hand watering or syringing) of greens and other high-stress turf areas to manage moisture levels and prevent wilting during periods of heat and drought.
Meticulously repair divots on tees and fairways using a sand and seed mix, and properly repair ball marks on greens to promote rapid turf recovery and smooth putting surfaces.
Support the application of fertilizers, pesticides, and other turf care products under the direct supervision of a licensed applicator, ensuring accurate calibration and safe handling procedures.
Maintain the cleanliness and professional appearance of the course by emptying trash receptacles, cleaning ball washers, and performing other detail-oriented tasks.

Secondary Functions

Assist with small-scale golf course improvement projects, which can include laying sod, seeding new areas, installing drainage, and minor landscape construction.
Perform landscape maintenance tasks such as planting, weeding, mulching, and pruning of ornamental beds and trees located around the clubhouse and on the course.
Conduct routine preventative maintenance on equipment, including cleaning machinery after use, checking fluid levels, monitoring tire pressure, and sharpening blades as directed.
Actively monitor and scout the course for signs of turfgrass disease, insect infestation, weed encroachment, or other pest-related issues and report findings to a supervisor.
Maintain the integrity and appearance of non-turf areas, including cart paths, bridges, and on-course structures, by blowing debris and performing minor repairs.
Participate in tree and shrub care, including the pruning of low-hanging limbs, removal of small storm-damaged trees, and cleanup of fallen branches and leaves.
Assist with winter season work, which may include comprehensive equipment overhauls, drainage projects, tree removal programs, and snow removal.
Help maintain accurate records of daily tasks completed, product application data, and specific irrigation repairs for operational and compliance purposes.
Adhere strictly to all organizational safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for every assigned task.
Foster a positive and collaborative team environment by effectively communicating with crew members and supervisors to ensure daily assignments are completed to the highest standard.
