Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Develop, promote, and execute a comprehensive golf instruction program, including private lessons, group clinics, junior golf camps, and specialized player development initiatives for all skill levels.
  • Oversee the entire scope of tournament operations, from initial planning, marketing, and registration to course setup, rules officiating, scoring (utilizing software like Golf Genius), and prize presentation.
  • Manage all facets of the golf shop and merchandising operation, including strategic purchasing, inventory control, visual merchandising, and achieving sales goals while maintaining a premium retail environment.
  • Act as a highly visible and engaging presence for all members and guests, proactively building relationships, addressing inquiries, and enforcing club policies to ensure a welcoming and orderly atmosphere.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and provide ongoing leadership to the entire golf operations team, including assistant professionals, golf shop staff, and outside services personnel, to maintain the highest service standards.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of the USGA Rules of Golf and serve as the go-to resource for rulings and interpretations during tournament play and everyday rounds.
  • Plan and execute a robust calendar of member golf events and social activities designed to increase participation, enhance member engagement, and foster a strong sense of community.
  • Implement and manage a professional club fitting program using modern launch monitor technology (e.g., TrackMan, GCQuad) to provide data-driven equipment recommendations to members and guests.
  • Supervise the daily reservation system, starter, and marshal activities to ensure a logical and efficient pace of play and maximize tee sheet utilization.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget for the golf operation, including revenue forecasting and expense control, and prepare regular financial and operational performance reports for club management.
  • Collaborate closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to stay informed about course conditions, maintenance schedules, and agronomic plans, communicating relevant information to players.
  • Personally provide a significant number of high-quality golf lessons and clinics, demonstrating a passion for teaching and a commitment to helping golfers improve their game.
  • Oversee the club's handicap program, ensuring compliance with USGA/WHS guidelines and providing education and assistance to members regarding their handicap index.
  • Manage the practice facility operations, ensuring the driving range, putting greens, and short game areas are well-maintained, stocked, and present a professional appearance.
  • Stay current with the latest trends in golf instruction, equipment technology, retail merchandising, and the broader golf industry through continuous education and professional development.

Secondary Functions

  • Coordinate with the Food & Beverage department to ensure seamless service for golf tournaments, outings, and related social events.
  • Assist the marketing department in creating promotional materials and digital content to drive engagement and revenue for golf programs and events.
  • Represent the club by playing golf with members of all skill levels upon request, fostering goodwill and strengthening member relationships.
  • Attend regular staff, committee, and management meetings to report on golf operations and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the club.
  • Manage and maintain the club's fleet of golf carts, ensuring they are clean, properly charged, and in good working order, while overseeing maintenance and replacement schedules.

  • Expert Golf Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to play golf at a high level.
  • Advanced Instruction Technique: Proven expertise in teaching the golf swing, short game, and course management to all player levels.

Educational Background
