Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Proactively greet and engage with every customer, creating a welcoming and positive first impression in the golf department.
  • Conduct in-depth customer consultations to understand their playing style, skill level, and personal goals to provide tailored product recommendations.
  • Utilize launch monitor technology (like TrackMan or GCQuad) and fitting systems to perform custom club fittings for a wide range of golfers.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the latest golf equipment, including clubs, balls, bags, and technology from leading brands like Titleist, Callaway, TaylorMade, and PING.
  • Drive sales by effectively communicating product benefits, up-selling, and cross-selling related items such as apparel, footwear, and accessories.
  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently and accurately to process sales, returns, exchanges, and special orders.
  • Manage and schedule appointments for tee times, golf lessons, and club fitting sessions using our designated booking software.
  • Assist in receiving, checking in, and pricing new merchandise shipments to ensure inventory accuracy and timely floor placement.
  • Maintain the visual presentation of the golf department, ensuring merchandise is fully stocked, well-organized, and adheres to company standards.
  • Actively participate in all product knowledge training sessions and vendor clinics to stay current on industry trends and new technologies.
  • Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints with professionalism and empathy, seeking solutions to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Execute daily operational tasks, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and end-of-day reporting.
  • Support inventory management by assisting with cycle counts, stock adjustments, and identifying low-stock or slow-moving items.
  • Promote and sell club memberships, lesson packages, and special event registrations to drive service-based revenue.
  • Build and maintain a client base through exceptional service, follow-up communication, and relationship-building.
  • Explain and process equipment trade-ins according to company policy, accurately assessing club value.
  • Assist in the coordination and execution of in-store events, demo days, and golf tournaments.
  • Ensure a clean and safe shopping environment by performing routine housekeeping duties within the department.
  • Provide basic golf club repair services, such as re-gripping, and manage send-outs for more complex repairs.
  • Educate customers on the proper care and maintenance of their new golf equipment to enhance longevity and performance.

  • POS Systems: Experience operating retail point-of-sale systems for transactions, inventory look-up, and reporting.
  • Product Knowledge: Deep and current understanding of golf equipment, apparel, and accessory lines from all major brands.
  • Inventory Management: Familiarity with inventory control procedures, including receiving, cycle counts, and stock management software.
  • Tee Time/Scheduling Software: Competency in using systems like ForeTees, EZLinks, or similar platforms to manage bookings.
  • Basic Club Repair: Skill in performing common club maintenance tasks, particularly re-gripping.

Experience Requirements

  • A demonstrated personal history with the game of golf (e.g., competitive play, avid recreational player) is a significant asset.
