Core Responsibilities
Primary Functions
- Accurately pick customer orders from designated warehouse locations using RF scanners, pick lists, and other technologies, ensuring the correct product and quantity are selected.
- Securely pack and label processed orders for shipment, selecting appropriate packaging materials to prevent damage and ensure compliance with carrier requirements.
- Receive incoming shipments of materials and products, carefully unloading trucks and containers either manually or with material handling equipment like pallet jacks.
- Verify the accuracy of inbound shipments by comparing items and quantities against purchase orders, invoices, or other receiving documents, and report any discrepancies.
- Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet riders, and hand trucks, in a safe and efficient manner to move goods within the facility (certification may be required).
- Perform put-away tasks, systematically placing received goods into their assigned storage locations, and ensuring the Warehouse Management System (WMS) is updated accordingly.
- Assist in the loading of outbound trailers, ensuring that goods are stacked safely and securely to optimize space and prevent shifting during transit.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and assist with full physical inventory audits to maintain precise inventory records and investigate any variances.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by clearing aisles, properly disposing of waste materials, and adhering to all company safety and housekeeping policies.
- Inspect products for defects, damage, or other quality issues during receiving, picking, and packing processes, and quarantine non-conforming items as per procedure.
- Process customer returns by inspecting returned items, documenting their condition, and routing them for restocking, repair, or disposal.
- Utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and other inventory software to look up product locations, update inventory status, and generate shipping labels.
- Prepare and assemble kits or value-added service packages according to specific work orders and quality guidelines.
- Monitor and replenish packing supplies, such as boxes, tape, and dunnage, at workstations to ensure continuous workflow.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate workflow and resolve operational challenges.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Sort and consolidate freight, pallets, and products for efficient storage or onward movement within the distribution network.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation related to shipping, receiving, and inventory adjustments with a high degree of accuracy.
- Perform basic quality checks on equipment before use, such as pre-shift forklift inspections, and report any maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback and suggestions for enhancing operational processes, safety, and efficiency.

Required Skills & Competencies
Hard Skills (Technical)
- Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Operation: Proficiency in operating manual pallet jacks and hand trucks; certification for forklifts or electric pallet riders is a significant plus.
- RF Scanner Usage: Experience using handheld radio-frequency (RF) scanners for picking, put-away, and inventory tasks.
- Warehouse Management System (WMS) Familiarity: Basic ability to navigate and perform transactions within a WMS or similar inventory management software.
- Basic Computer Literacy: Competence in using computers for basic data entry, email communication, and printing labels.
- Physical Stamina & Strength: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods and consistently lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Numeracy and Literacy: Strong ability to read, count accurately, and perform simple mathematical calculations to avoid errors in picking and shipping.
