Core Responsibilities

Primary Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to rigorously evaluate the full environmental footprint of products, processes, or services, from cradle to grave.

  • Collaborate intensively with cross-functional teams, including product design, supply chain, and manufacturing, to embed sustainability and circular economy principles into the entire value chain.
  • Research, validate, and advocate for the adoption of novel sustainable materials, green building technologies, and cleaner production methodologies to drive down the organization's carbon footprint.
  • Prepare and present in-depth technical reports, environmental impact assessments, and data-driven sustainability dashboards for diverse audiences, including executive leadership and regulatory agencies.
  • Champion the certification process for green building standards like LEED, BREEAM, or the Living Building Challenge for new construction and major renovation projects.
  • Develop and manage complex data models to accurately track, analyze, and report on key sustainability performance indicators (KPIs), such as GHG emissions, water usage, and waste diversion rates.
  • Actively engage with suppliers and procurement teams to champion sustainable sourcing practices and to evaluate the environmental and social performance of the supply chain.
  • Serve as the in-house subject matter expert, providing technical guidance and training to other departments on sustainability best practices, environmental management systems, and emerging green technologies.
  • Analyze and interpret large, complex sets of environmental and operational data to identify underlying trends, forecast future impacts, and inform strategic business decisions.
  • Manage the technical due diligence and implementation of carbon offsetting projects and the procurement of Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) to meet corporate climate commitments.
  • Conduct thorough feasibility studies and detailed cost-benefit analyses for proposed sustainability projects, building a robust business case to secure investment and stakeholder buy-in.
  • Develop and oversee corporate water stewardship programs, which includes conducting water risk assessments, balance calculations, and designing water treatment and recycling systems.
  • Spearhead or contribute to research and development (R&D) projects focused on creating innovative technological solutions for pollution control, resource recovery, and environmental remediation.
  • Create and deliver compelling, data-backed presentations to senior management, investors, and external partners to advocate for sustainability programs and report on progress towards public targets.
  • Perform regular on-site inspections and comprehensive environmental compliance audits to ensure steadfast adherence to operational permits and environmental management plans.
  • Utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) tools to analyze spatial data for optimal site selection, environmental impact modeling, and natural resource management.
